RSVP for rally - Hosts - Bryan Leipper, Diane Leipper
3 Day rally for SNU and WBCCI members. Visitors welcome. SNU Board meeting on Saturday open to all. Special Event – Amateur Radio Field Day – Check out the web page about the SNU hams |
|
Location: The area is located on highway 338 in Nevada, which comes out of Bridgeport as California hiway182. If you are heading north on Nevada 338, at the Sweetwater Summit there is a large parking area to the right with a weather gathering station at the south end. From the southern end of the parking area, there is a short dirt road that goes behind a small knoll where the area flattens out and is an excellent place for a large group and large rigs. The picture above shows the weather station and the turnoff to the rally site |
Description – (This comes
from Ed LaFranchi whose group, the Desert Rats like to camp at
Sweetwater.) First of all, the elevation is right at 7000' so it
is not a winter spot but later spring, summer or early fall would
be good. There is a large off-the-road group that has used the
spot for many years during the Labor Day and Memorial Day
weekends. You would want to avoid those dates. |
