Davis creek is a Washoe County Regional Park overlooking Washoe Lake and US 395 between Reno and Carson City. It is a dry camp with flush toilets and hot showers in the central facility. The campground has a resident ranger and is open all year. Fees are moderate. There are pull though sites for RV's but most will require some effort to get the rig anywhere near level. The dump station is on a slope that creates a dangerous situation for its use and prevents proper emptying of RV tanks. The group area would get crowded with more than ten rigs. It is a fairly level unpaved surface and well equipped for group activities. It is usually closed for winter as the water for the toilets is turned off. The camp also features a small lake, several trails for hiking, an amphitheater with summer weekend programs, and other nature related amenities. Weather: Davis Creek is several hundred feet higher in elevation than Reno, on the west side of Washoe Vallley, and well shaded by pine trees so it is usually a few degrees cooler than Reno. Location: The camp is situated between Reno and Carson City on U.S. 395. It is a very convenient location for those needing a base camp convenient for touring Reno, Virginia City, Carson City, and the Lake Tahoe basin. Road noise from U.S. 395 is prevalent at this campground. |
