Doris passed away in April 2024
Doris and her husband, Wheels joined the SNU in 2008 when they attended our rally at the BLM campground at Eagle Lake. They were active members until 2019.
Wheels and Doris checked out several potential sites for SNU rallies. One of them was Green Creek near Bridgeport. The SNU held two rallies at that site.
Doris and Wheels also participated in WBCCI Caravans, International Rallies, Region 12 rallies, and special event rallies. Doris participated in the pet shows and other activities at these rallies She also performed playing her guitar and singing either on her own or with other musicians. In 2014 Doris was crowned Hobo Queen at the Region Hobo rally.
Some of the things Doris enjoyed at SNU rallies were providing delicious contributions to our shared meals, helping with cooking special brunches and other meals, taking her dog on walks, joining other SNU members on hikes and participating in SNU special events. Doris also occasionally provided the SNU with impromptu concerts playing her guitar and singing.
Doris took the pink flamingo thing seriously. Her collection of pink flamingos was one of the most unique in the SNU. You never knew what kind of flamingo Doris would show up with at an SNU rally. Her family also contributed to her collection.
Doris was always willing to lend a hand, to get involved and to participate in whatever was going on. She will be missed but she left behind a lot of great memories.
