The first Director of the WBCCI had several experiences before 1955. One of the most interesting was her job with the Red Cross. She worked processing the Marines back into civilian life. The picture shows her with two Marines. My Grandparents had lived on Hill Street in Oceanside for many years. My Grandmother was a five gold star lady when it came to her volunteer work with the USO. Frequently she brought Marines to her home for a -home cooked- meal. Many of the Marines became life long friends of the family. Hats off to my Grandmother and her undying attention to the -Boys-in-Uniform.- God Bless my Mother for her kindness, understanding, and dedication in working with the Marines coming home. This is to celebrate Veterans Day 2008, the Corps birthday, and my brothers-in-arms.";
