SNU Recruitment Docs

A conversation in September 2008 at Obsidian Dome with Teressa TenBerge (current WBCCI membership chair) prompted me to review the SNU recruitment materials and why we do things the way we do. It was this conversation that made me realize we had been focusing on promoting the SNU (which is as it should be) but that we hadn't been including any promotion of WBCCI in the packet we send out. When people join the SNU they are also joining WBCCI therefore our packet should include some information regarding WBCCI. A flyer was created that lists the benefits of WBCCI membership as seen on the WBCCI website and in other WBCCI materials. The flyer also includes the WBCCI Creed and an introductory paragraph which I (Diane Leipper) wrote. This flyer has now been incorporated as part of the introductory booklet sent to all prospective SNU members.

Teressa asked why we didn't use the WBCCI membership application form. The reasons for this are essentially the same as it is for all of our materials – flexibility. We can print on demand only what is needed at any specific time. We can modify documents as needed and even personalize them. For instance the application the SNU uses includes information not on the WBCCI form and it is personalized for the SNU. We can create documents that meet the specific needs, interests, or goals of the SNU. SNU recruitment materials are available on the website and can be printed and used by any SNU member. This system also simplifies things for the SNU. We don't have to pre-order materials, maintain a stockpile, manage inventory, or worry about outdated or obsolete materials.

These documents are constantly evolving. Any input, ideas or suggestions from any SNU member are always welcome.

Below are the pieces that are sent to prospective new SNU members. These are current as of September 2013. They are PDF documents

• Cover Letter– updated and modified as needed for each individual.

• Introduction brochure – includes who we are, current rally schedule, what to expect at an SNU rally and SNU achievements. This is printed in an 11 X 17 booklet format or in an 8 ½ X 11 format. Also includes lists benefits of membership in WBCCI as well as the WBCCI Creed

• Membership application

• Newsletter – A print copy of the current newsletter is sent to each prospective member. In the cover letter they are encouraged to subscribe to the SNU announcement list to continue receiving newsletters

SNU Promotional Flyer Although this flyer is not included in the packet sent to potential members, it is used as a handout at events, given to interested people by current SNU members or used in other ways for promoting the SNU.
