Directions to Ft Sage Depart civilization at Laver Crossing north of Doyle, 2 miles from the north end of the Doyle loop and almost a mile north of the Shell station Turn towards the mountains right where the passing lane starts going north There will be signs but only after you make the turn A mile and a half down Laver it T's into Hackstaff and the paved road is left behind- turn right (south) Hackstaff is 40 mph gravel. Look for Fort Sage Road a mile ahead. Fort Sage Road is well marked from both directions on Hackstaff - one of two pre-emptive signs on this route. nice wide roads and plenty of room to make the turn One mile on 15 mph gravel - watch for hidden washboard! Again - after the turn you get confirmation you made the right choice - look for the turn off Fort Sage Road in one mile to the trailhead About a mile and a half off Fort Sage Road is the trailhead. Some grade, some sand maybe a 10 mph road. |
