Rally at Obsidian Dome

Thursday August 14 – Sunday 17, 2014

3 Day rally for SNU and WBCCI members. Visitors welcome

Location: The SNU rally will be at Obsidian Dome. See detail map below. Don't get confused. There is another location called Obsidian Flat Group site which is located about 1.5 miles SW of the location we camp in and it is a reserve only campground. For pictures and directions check the PDF prepared by Rick Laborde. Obsidian Dome is south of Reno on US 395 about 160 miles. Between June Lakes and Mammoth Lakes, CA. The campground is 2.7 miles off of US 395. Turn west off Hwy 395 right after the sign to Obsidan Dome. Right after turning on Obsidian Dome Road you should see very short sign (2S10). Drive straight through the 1st cross intersection at .3 miles. After .9 miles of wide dirt road take the left fork towards Obsidian Dome. You will pass the Obsidian Dome Parking area at 1.3 miles, keep on the main road. At an unmarked fork, take a left again. At this point the road becomes one lane with turnouts. 1.5 miles from Hwy 395. At a last unmarked fork in the road take a left again. 2.6 miles from Hwy 395.

Finding the Rally Site: The SNU now provides the means for you to put its rally sites on your electronic map. If you don't have a GPS or a PND or a computer with a mapping program, you can still take the file and use it to find coordinates on your paper maps.

What to expect at an SNU rally : Never been to an SNU rally? This page will give you information on arrival and departure times, meals, activities, and other information that will help make the rally an enjoyable experience.

Boondocking SNU Style: SNU rallies are a great way to experience camping “off grid” Our usual rally sites have no electricity or other hookups. Water is frequently not available. For the SNU, this type of camping enhances the experience and we are never without all the comforts of home
