Thursday April 18 – Sunday 21, 2013

Location: Ft Sage, a BLM campground and off road trail head near Doyle, CA, about 45 miles north of Reno. The campground is called Ft Sage. and is about 5 miles east of US 395. See detailed directions and map below and be sure to check the caution comment

Finding the Rally Site: The SNU now provides the means for you to put its rally sites on your electronic map. If you don't have a GPS or a PND or a computer with a mapping program, you can still take the file and use it to find coordinates on your paper maps.

What to expect at an SNU rally : Never been to an SNU rally? This page will give you information on arrival and departure times, meals, activities, and other information that will help make the rally an enjoyable experience.

Boondocking SNU Style: SNU rallies are a great way to experience camping “off grid” Our usual rally sites have no electricity or other hookups. Water is frequently not available. For the SNU, this type of camping enhances the experience and we are never without all the comforts of home

Directions

Depart civilization at Laver Crossing north of Doyle, 2 miles from the north end of the Doyle loop and almost a mile north of the Shell station

Turn towards the mountains right where the passing lane starts going north

There will be signs but only after you make the turn

A mile and a half down Laver it T's into Hackstaff and the paved road is left behind- turn right (south)

Hackstaff is 40 mph gravel. Look for Fort Sage Road a mile ahead.

Fort Sage Road is well marked from both directions on Hackstaff - one of two pre-emptive signs on this route. nice wide roads and plenty of room to make the turn

One mile on 15 mph gravel - watch for hidden washboard!

Again - after the turn you get confirmation you made the right choice - look for the turn off Fort Sage Road in one mile to the trailhead

About a mile and a half off Fort Sage Road is the trailhead. Some grade, some sand maybe a 10 mph road.

Caution: The route to Ft Sage indicated on some GPS systems goes over a bridge that is NOT recommended for large vehicles or towing a trailer because of weight limits and narrow access. Use the directions above to get to the rally site.
