Rally at the Mason Valley Wildlife Area

Thursday March 22 – Sunday March 25, 2012

RSVP for rally - Hosts – Jerry and Dyann Thornburg

3 Day rally for SNU and WBCCI members. Visitors welcome. SNU Board meeting on Saturday open to all.

The SNU now provides the means for you to put its rally sites on your electronic map. If you don't have a GPS or a PND or a computer with a mapping program, you can still take the file and use it to find coordinates on your paper maps.

Location: Off of Miller Lane on the North side of Yerington. From Silver Springs follow Hwy 95 South to Miller Lane. Turn East on Miller Lane and continue to Lux Lane.. Follow Lux Lane (a good gravel road) about a half mile past the fish hatchery to the campground. The picture below is at the South entrance at the intersection of Lux Lane and Miller Lane.

Note: there is a road (Sierra Way) before the Miller Lane Rd that goes to the wildlife area and campground but it is NOT RECOMMENDED. It is longer and the road is a washboard.

Description – This is an unstructured campground with some picnic tables and pit toilets and a flat gravel parking area. It is walking distance to the Walker River and to various wildlife ponds.

The Lahonton Audubon Society provides the best map to the Mason Valley Wildlife area. On this map the campground is just south of the Mason Valley WMA Headquarters office. Again, the route from Sierra Way to Lux lane is NOT recommended.

What to expect at an SNU rally

Never been to an SNU rally? This page will give you information on arrival and departure times, meals, activities, and other information that will help make the rally an enjoyable experience.

Boondocking SNU Style

SNU rallies are a great way to experience camping “off grid” Our usual rally sites have no electricity or other hookups. Water is frequently not available. For the SNU, this type of camping enhances the experience and we are never without all the comforts of home
