China 1979

In 1979, three months after the US resumed diplomatic relations with China, my Mother, a friend of hers (Marian Chichester), Sue and I went to China. Sharing the trip with my Mother is one of those really, really great experiences.

The picture on the left is one that Sue took at the Great Wall. It isn't so much that it is me, but the overload of camera equipment. Today I do digital, then I did film. Ouch! The picture on the right was taken on a very cold day. Sue and I were going to photography school and we took equipment, film, and batteries way beyond the average tourist. Traveling is habit forming.

I have many slides that were not "worthy." I find that with various croppings, colour corrections that a few of them come out okay.

Russia 1988

In 1988 Mom, Susan and I went to the Soviet Union. Here is a picture I took in the Soviet Union. This is near Moscow. In the lower right hand corner you see a lady with a red jacket, that's my Mother.

We had a great trip, before the fall of the "evil empire."
