Photo gallery of the Black Rock and Soldier Meadows Located in Northwestern Nevada north of the town of Gerlach. The Black Rock playa is remnant of Pleistocene Lake Lahontan. The area is managed by the Bureau of Land Management. There are many historic and unique geological sites in the area. The Black Rock is home to several special events including rocketry, racing for the land speed record and Burning Man.
