The Sierra Nevada Unit looks to the founding principles of it's parent organization, the Wally Byam Caravan Club, International to provide the foundation of the Unit. These principles guide the SNU in it's activities and it's management.

The SNU held lunches in two new locations – Carolina Kitchen in Sparks and Jakes in Fernley
The June rally was held in a new location at Green Creek just south of Bridgeport.
The SNU President Wheels Wheeler was “crowned” 2013 Hobo King at the Hobo Rally in Blythe January 2013.
A highlight of 2013 was the Obsidian Dome Rally We had representatives from five different Units. We had nine Airstreams at Obsidian and three Class A's at Mammoth RV park for a total of 13 rigs at this rally.
The rally in Fallon at the Cantaloupe Festival included two of the newest SNU members attending their first rally.
Rally highlights included: March at Lahontan – visit from Steven & Jan, April at Ft Sage – First rally for Bruce & Kathy with their Airstream, May at Rocky Point – Steve came with his motorhome. We also had a visitor from the New England Unit, June at Green Creek – special guests Mike & Bette Jo attended, July at Weed Heights – ice cream bonanza dessert, August at Obsidian – special Friday and Saturday breakfasts including Don's sourdough pancakes, September in Fallon – enjoyed the Annual Fallon Cantaloupe Festival, October at Crocker – beautiful fall weather.
Two new options were added to the SNU communications network. Rick LaBorde set up a facebook page for the SNU. Don Williams set up the SNU rallies and lunches on the Region 12 Master Calendar.
The SNU always welcomes fellow Airstreamers and potential Airstreamers to our rallies. In 2013 we had guests at Obsidian, Rocky Point, Ft Sage, and Green Creek. Most were from other WBCCI Units including The New England Unit, Long Beach, San Fernando Valley, NorCal and El Camino
SNU members and affiliates participated in other WBCCI activities including:
Four members of the SNU provide courtesy parking for traveling WBCCI members. This year the Leipper's hosted two different WBCCI members who were on their way to the Balloon Fiesta Rally.
One of the things the SNU does best is create memorable meals. In 2013 these included: Jerry cooking roast over a campfire on a rotisserie and corn roasted on the fire, John from the New England Unit who cooked crepes with apricot preserves for us for breakfast, Don's sourdough pancakes, and a spaghetti feed at Obsidian coordinated by Bobbi with assistance from several others.
It all starts at the bottom between you and your local unit. Make it work for you. Get involved, share the fun, build on the history and create new memories.
“It's the Airstreams that bring us together but it's the people who keep us together” - Jerry Thornburg (2797) describing the SNU
"The WBCCI is an exclusive club because not everyone owns an Airstream! The idea is to get out and have fun with your RV - with friends who share common interests." - Bryan R. Leipper (772)
“The formula that the leadership in our unit uses comes straight from Wally and his creed which they have adopted as the primary focus of the group. It also comes by their determination to be inclusive with respect to the members, open to new ideas and by providing opportunities for everyone to participate in the way that best suits them.” - Former SNU member
