40th Anniversary of the Sierra Nevada Unit 1976 – 2016

Kitty Kredits

This is a way to say “thank you” for active participation and support of the SNU. We also hope this is another way to stimulate and share your memories of highlights of the various SNU rallies you have attended. Kredits can be applied to your registration for the 40th Anniversary Rally September 22 – 25, 2016 at Lassen RV Resort.

Jerry & Dyann Thornburg

Wheels & Doris Wheeler

Members since 2005.

Jerry & Dyann have attended all but four SNU rallies since joining the Unit. That’s over 40 rallies and that’s with Jerry holding a full time job. Jerry and Dyann’s contributions to the SNU are almost too numerous to mention. Among their other contributions are:

Jerry & Dyann hosted two very successful rallies at the Cantaloupe Festival in Fallon.

They have scouted out other potential rally sites including Unionville and Berlin-Ichthyosaur State Park.

The made arrangements for a special brunch at a local bed and breakfast at a Unionville rally.

Both have served as President of the SNU. Jerry has served as chair of the SNU CBL committee.

While serving as President, both Jerry & Dyann wrote articles for the newsletter. Dyann helped mail out the postal mail version of the newsletter.

Jerry created the plexi-glass box for the diorama.

Jerry has served as chief engineer for the SNU donating materials and widening the gate at Unionville, assisting with the clean up crew at Obsidian, repairing the road at Sweetwater, and various other projects

There have been several occasions when we have used Jerry & Dyann’s Airstream as our club house when rally weather made eating outdoors not an enjoyable option.

Members since 2009

Wheels and Doris have attended over 30 rallies since they became members of the SNU

They have scouted out several potential rally sites including Green Creek and they hosted a rally at that site in 2013. They have also suggested locations for lunches, including one on our 2017 schedule.

Wheels got the SNU involved with the Lyon County Fly-In in 2009. Part of that rally was volunteering to help with event set up and make pancakes for the event participants.

Wheels has served as President of the SNU.

As president, Wheels wrote articles for the newsletter. He has also written trip reports of his and Doris’s travels. These are in the travelogue section of the website.

Wheels had a friend make up the SNU decals which most of us now have on our rigs.

Wheels & Doris have represented the SNU at Region and Special event rallies including the Hobo rally. Wheels was crowned Hobo King in 2013 and Doris was crowned Hobo Queen in 2014.
