Greetings!
For all shared meals noted below, please bring your own drinks/cups. Gatherings will take place on the cabin deck. If you can, please bring a chair. We will have tables/plates/napkins/silverware.
Monday, May 18 - 5:30pm Dinner will be
hosted by the Reno Airstream Dealership, with the theme of “Fiesta
50” to kick off our 50th anniversary rally. Tami will be present!
And if all goes well, we’ll be showing “Alumination” for movie
night after dinner.
Tuesday, May 19 - 9:30am
Schat’s Bakery breakfast, hosted by SkyMed, with a presentation
from Steve DeVincezi at 10am. Please attend if you are able. A number
of us have this coverage and we think it may be of interest to you as
you travel. I promise the presentation is short and sweet…and no
pressure :).
Tuesday, May 19 - 5:30pm. 50th
anniversary dinner celebration. This is a potluck, featuring Susan
Andersen’s Tamale Casserole (Susan has dibs on the Cabin oven for
dinner) Please bring a main/side/dessert (your choice, but not all 3,
haha). We’ll also have raffles, gifts, speakers, and red stars for
our “longevity” members!
Wednesday, May 20. Pancake breakfast. Time tbd.
Wednesday, May 20 - 5:30pm. Flamingo dinner. This is a potluck with a “flamingo” theme - pink, birds, ok- seriously, this is the Sierra Nevada Unit, so… really, anything goes…. Please bring a main/side/dessert (your choice, but not all 3, haha). There may be a game or 2 involved - and prizes, always great prizes!
A few of us will have our Hobie peddle kayaks and there are kayaks at the Topaz Resort available for your use (no charge). This is a great morning activity - if the weather/wind cooperates! Brian & I will have our road bikes for a possible ride up to Monitor Pass (again, weather dependent). I know others will be out on the water with rod and reel, I hear painting is a favorite of a few members, reading and relaxing, knot tying, stargazing…. If there is interest, we’d be happy to take a drive up to the top of the Leviathan fire lookout on Monitor Pass (4-wheel drive). A number of us went up last year and it’s quite the view at 8500’). These are just a few suggestions.
Again, as with the SNU style of camping, activities are up to you - feel free to join in or take some quiet time for yourself. However you choose to spend your time, I know I’m looking forward to meeting a few new members and checking out all the airstreams!
Lastly, please check out the history table in the Cabin! Diane Leipper will have a number of photo albums/info from the last 50 years and I think you’ll enjoy thumbing thru the pages.
Bring your own beverages/cups
Bring something to add to the potluck for Tuesday & Wednesday dinners. (Expect 20-30 people)
Lunches are “on your own”.
Cocktail/mocktails are welcome to be shared.
There is a kitchen in the cabin, and this is available for use should you need it.
Any questions/etc, feel free to contact me directly. We’ll see you on the 18th!
