Additional information on SNU rallies : Criteria for selecting rally sites -|- Rally Site Categories -|- Rally fee guidelines
I recently took another look at the 1980 and 1981 WBCCI Membership Directories that my Dad and Mom had. In particular I checked out the rally schedules for the SNU. I sure wish I had known about these way back in 2002. So many places we have had rallies that I had no idea the SNU had been there before. It makes me really sad when I think of all the SNU history, including photos that were dispersed or thrown out in a house cleaning purge in the 1990’s. I do not recall anyone in the SNU in the 1990's ever talking about those rallies, even some of the members who had participated. Other than those directories, the only remaining piece of SNU history is the scrapbook of the 1980 Mid-Nevada Caravan which I have digitized and is available on the website. That purge, along with an effort to save our grandparents Airstream history were prime motivators for Bryan and I in setting up our website. We wanted to do our best to preserve this history and make it available to anyone who was interested.
Thanks to Mike Orchard ( #32083) I have now been able to add several more of the SNU schedules to the archives Mike has had a decades long interest in WBCCI, in particular tracking the membership (big red) numbers. I recently asked him if he could send me any SNU rally schedules that he might have prior to 1997. He graciously did so. The schedules Mike sent have added tremendously to the story of the SNU. Find out more about Mike and his interest in WBCCI.
I began documenting the SNU rally schedules in 1997 by creating a word processing document of the schedule as it had been developed and approved by the SNU board. By 2002 with input from SNU members, I was creating as well as publishing the SNU rally schedules. I continued working on the rally schedules till 2018. Also in 2002 Bryan began setting up a website for the SNU. I soon started adding the rally schedules to this website.
Now if only I could get hold of the SNU schedules from 1976 to 1979 and the few other missing schedules.
Note – these are either PDF or HTML files.
The 1980 and 1981 schedules came from WBCCI membership directories that belonged to Dale and Virginia Leipper (#1183). Mike sent me the 1982,1984,1985,1988,1992 and 1995 schedules from his collection of membership directories. I set the most recent additions in the format I had used on the other early rally schedules,
