Things to keep in mind when choosing rally sites for the SNU. The SNU holds rallies monthly March through November. Our rally policy is that unless there are road restrictions in place on the travel day to the rally, the rally will take place.
Prefer open parking (like Lahonton Beach 7) or disbursed camping sites (Sweetwater Summit).
Group areas in structured campgrounds are fine but cost must be considered. Use of such areas should be limited unless we can guarantee four or more participants at a particular site.
Temperature must be considered. Rallies held in colder months should be at lower elevations and open areas (no trees) are OK. Rallies held in warmer months should be at higher elevation with trees or other shade.
The site must accommodate eight or more rigs
Rally sites need to accommodate trailers up to 31 ft not counting the tow vehicle.
Availability of drinking water nice but not needed.
Full or partial hookups not needed
Access to rally site should take
into consideration:
the type of road - good gravel OK
the
grade - steep over 5%, long grades, sharp curves not advisable
the
width - availability of pull over or turn around space a
must.
distance from a primary road
Travel distance should be considered. To determine travel distance use Reno as the starting point. Most rallies should be within a two and a half hour drive of Reno.
Rallies should take into consideration the home base of our membership. Rallies should be planned in various locations throughout our region so that at least one rally a year will be as close as possible to the hometown of various members.
Prefer not be a Casino (unless a small one with easy access to restaurant and casino noise is not bothersome)
Prefer local rather than a chain type.
Prefer separate room for between 15 - 30 people (could have more)
Price range $8 to $25 OK
Good food quality and variety
Prefer easy access and good parking
