Proposed 35th SNU Anniversary CelebrationThe SNU needs your input and ideas. Please take a few minutes to read this information and answer a few questions. Your input will help us decide what type of celebration should be the highlight of the SNU's 35th Anniversary Year.
The primary proposal is to hold a rally at Campground by the Lake in South Lake Tahoe with a dinner cruise on the MS Dixie as the highlight event. Randy Grossmann has done some preliminary research on this idea. It is clear that if the SNU chooses to do this it will require some solid contentments by the SNU and all members who wish to participate.
Motivations behind this idea include providing a special and unique celebration for the SNU. It is hoped that this event might encourage some SNU members who have not yet attended a rally or other SNU activity. Consideration was also given to the idea that this might be an event that we could invite other WBCCI members to and possibly other special guests. The idea of a dinner cruise in conjunction with the rally was convenience. Since our trailers will be parked close by, nobody would have a long drive and we wouldn't have to worry about pets at home.
The primary reasons for a September date is because it is early enough in the fall that weather is less likely to be a concern. Also, after school starts there will be less tourists which means less traffic and probably more flexibility with the campground. September is a normal rally month for the SNU.
The cruises run through early October. The cruises are every day, except that after Labor Day there are no Tuesday cruises. The price is the same regardless of the day of the week or weekend. The cost per person is $65. The group rate cost is normally $59. The spokesperson for the MS Dixie offered Randy a rate of $52 per person. The $52 is the total cost with nothing else added on. There is a 20 person group minimum. There would be a 25% deposit which would be refundable up to a month before the cruise. The Cruise is three hours with dinner and entertainment. Dinner would be ordering from a menu with many options.

Hold a rally as described above, in South Lake Tahoe at the Campground by the Lake with optional special event dinner cruise supported by the SNU (the SNU will make arrangements, manage reservations, collect fees, and handle payments)
Hold a rally at the Campground by the Lake. Attendees can choose to go on a dinner cruise or participate in any other activity at South Lake Tahoe on their own initiative and their own planning.
Go ahead with a Rally at South Lake Tahoe but plan a special luncheon on a month that the SNU traditionally holds luncheons as the primary anniversary celebration.
Celebrate the anniversary with a more traditional SNU rally as part of our regular rally schedule and a luncheon as part of our normal luncheon schedule. The rally could be at Twin Lakes (under certain circumstances) or in some other location. The luncheon could be at a special place proposed by an SNU member. Guests could be invited to both of these events.
