The real story. May it be known by all.

Autopsy of a Dead Coup. Victor Davis Hanson – “There are many elements to what in time likely will become recognized as the greatest scandal in American political history, marking the first occasion in which U.S. government bureaucrats sought to overturn an election and to remove a sitting U.S. president.”

“The deep state is by nature cowardly. It does not move unless it feels it can disguise its subterranean efforts or that, if revealed, those efforts will be seen as popular and necessary—as expressed in tell-all book titles such as fired FBI Directors James Comey’s Higher Loyalty or in disgraced Deputy FBI Director Andrew McCabe’s psychodramatic The Threat.

In candidate and President Trump’s case that prepping of the battlefield translated into a coordinated effort among the media, political progressives and celebrities to so demonize Trump that his imminent removal likely would appear a relief to the people. Anything was justified that led to that end.
About a dozen FBI and DOJ grandees have now resigned, retired, been fired, or reassigned for unethical and likely illegal behavior—and yet have not faced criminal indictments.
Then, not thugs in sunglasses and epaulettes, not oligarchs in private jets, not shaggy would-be Marxists, but sanctimonious arrogant bureaucrats in suits and ties used their government agencies to seek to overturn the 2016 election, abort a presidency, and subvert the U.S. Constitution. And they did all that and more on the premise that they were our moral superiors and had uniquely divine rights to destroy a presidency that they loathed.

Shame on all these failed conspirators and their abettors, and may these immoral people finally earn a long deserved legal and moral reckoning.

The real story on the budget. Don Surber – “When was the last time the media got anything right about President Trump?”

“Paul Bedard [link], now with the Washington Examiner, said none of the poison pills made it, and the president did far better than the media reported.
The Democrat spin is another falsehood.

For the Record, Obama Made Mincemeat of the Constitution. Jack Cashill – “the notion that such a declaration would encourage a future Democratic president to do something similar borders on the comic. Democrats don’t need encouragement.”

“Under President Barack Obama, the Constitution was violated more wantonly than a goat at a Taliban bachelor party, and the faithful cheered every violation.
By 2014, Obama had successfully nullified any number of laws with negligible media objection.
Obama made nullification a central part of his governing philosophy. “I’m eager to work with all of you,” he said to Congress of the 2014 State of the Union speech. “But America does not stand still — and neither will I. So wherever and whenever I can take steps without legislation to expand opportunity for more American families, that’s what I’m going to do.”

Smollett and AOC: Dems Reach New Heights of ‘Magical Thinking’. Roger L. Simon – “What’s with the left? Why have they so abandoned logic and reason that not only do they contradict virtually everything they stood for ten years ago”

“It is as if the Democratic Party has decided, once and for all, to adopt the psychological concept of “Magical Thinking” as its modus vivendi.
MT pops up in various guises from a child believing in Santa Claus to adults adhering to numerous utopian cults, secular and religious.
Calling this Trump Derangement Syndrome is an understatement because it’s more psychologically disturbing than a mere political catchphrase can capture.
That Smollett would believe he could get away with such an outlandish hoax speaks not just to his own unbalanced psyche but to the zeitgeist.
In the case of AOC, her Seventh-day Adventist-style “end times” warning of a world ending in twelve years should have been met with a bit of skepticism (or possibly a guffaw) considering it was exactly twelve years ago that Al Gore made myriad similar predictions in his An Inconvenient Truth documentary, not one of which came true.
There are useful idiots in every generation and doubtless always will be. What is scary is how many people want to believe her, how many are so invested in this form of magical thinking they are willing to abandon their critical faculties. …

the left may have gone so far into the magical realm this time that the old silent majority, what Kurt Schlichter calls “the Normals,” may be shaking their heads and starting to act. Things are beginning to backfire, sometimes with surprising speed.

Here’s the header on Drudge as an example: “WANTED: Chicago police to re-question actor… GRAND JURY? COULD GET 3 YEARS IN PRISON FOR FILING FALSE REPORT… Rehearsed attack? FLASHBACK: Lashed Out at Hateful Doubters… MONTAGE: WATCH MEDIA UNCRITICALLY ACCEPT ANOTHER ‘HATE CRIME’… ‘This is America in 2019’… ABC Damage Control After ‘GMA’ Gush… Don’t hold breath waiting for mea culpas… Pelosi quietly deletes tweet… Civil Rights Activist Says Could Have Started Race War… ‘PRANKSTER ACTIVISTS’ SWARM DC”

It’s all there and the established behavior pattern is readily visible.

“Non Sequitur” cartoon fall-out over crude message to Trump continues. Jazz Shaw – “So a week out from the discovery of an offensive hidden message in a Sunday comic strip, public forgiveness from the offended isn’t forthcoming. This looks like what is happening in the entertainment business in general.”

The Aurora shooter left many questions in his wake. Jazz Shaw – “That’s the sort of thing we can at least hinder if we manage to enforce our existing laws and properly fund and train the people responsible for doing so.” But don’t tell that to the voters in the populated parts of Nevada, especially the recent emigres from a neighboring state.

Is the country outraged about the soft coup? neo – “cutting a great road through the law to get after the opponent you’ve labeled as the Devil. And at least half the country is happily walking down that road that’s been cut.” i.e. ‘Don’t get cocky, kid’ as he warned in the movie. There’s still a long row to hoe.

Ocean Plastic Cleanup: Unintended Consequences (artificial habitat for mahi-mahi and more). David Shormann – “Put an object in the open ocean and it will attract marine life. Fishermen know this, which is why Fish Aggregating Devices, or FADs, are commonly used. Hawaii has dozens, and they are merely yellow buoys with a cable anchored to the bottom.”
