Fact checkers versus standards of measure

Fake News Becomes a Way of Life. [NR nagware caveat] Michael Brendan Dougherty – “And thus another critical democratic institution decided it would be more fun and emotionally satisfying to fail than to perform the function with which the public entrusts it.” Warnings in 2016 were ignored.

New Russia probe memos expose massive errors in NYT anti-Trump story, Steele dossier. Sharyl Attkisson – “The first document is a 57-page summary of a three-day FBI interview in January 2017 with Christopher Steele’s ‘primary sub-source’ in the anti-Trump allegations and ‘dossier.’ Document number two takes apart a New York Times article written by Michael Schmidt, Mark Mazzetti, and Matt Apuzzo.”

Chris Wallace Is Wrong, Joe Biden Does Want to Defund the Police. Matt Margolis – “In fact, Wallace’s own network reported on it: … Trump may have been incorrect about where and when Biden endorsed the idea of defunding the police, but “yes, absolutely” he did, as the above video shows. That, and calling the police “the enemy.” It’s a lesson in denial, Chris Wallace’s denial.

Chris Wallace is why there can’t be ‘fact-checkers’ at the 2020 Trump-Biden debates. Eddie Scarry – “As though he were redirecting a stubborn child, rather than the president of the United States who had stated a fact, Wallace interrupted, “No, he — sir, he does not.”

“Conservative news sites were right to highlight that exchange as Biden very obviously stating that he would move resources away from police. And yet, the Associated Press stated in earnest that it was “false” to say Biden was in favor of defunding the police because actually he “supports redirecting some police funding to address mental health or to change the prison system.”

It’s truly astounding.

Wallace is yet another reminder why “fact-checking” is now a profession that requires a rubber nose and a rainbow wig.

Warfare In Grant Park. John Hinderaker – “This is, obviously, a sad state of affairs. It is made worse by the Left’s constant attacks on law enforcement, which are generally supported not only by academia, but by big business. No wonder Andy McCarthy says the revolution is winning.”

Violent Portland Rioters Chant ‘Every City, Every Town, Burn the Precincts to the Ground’ During Black Lives Matter ‘Protest’. Cassandra Fairbanks – “The message deeply contradicts the “we just want reform” narrative that liberals and their media lackeys are trying to push.”

What the Heck Are Federal Law Enforcement Officers Doing in Portland? Steve Vladeck – “the protests have been met with what appears to be a significant federal law enforcement response—the contours of (and legal authorities for) which are, at best, unclear.”

Despicable Behavior Of Today’s Academicians. Walter E. Williams – “Much of today’s totalitarianism, promotion of hate and not to mention outright stupidity, has its roots on college campuses.”

As if 2020 Wasn’t Contentious Enough. Clarice Feldman – “The White House has finally had it with the incompetence and partisanship of the CDC, and it couldn’t come fast enough for me.” … “Conrad Black convincingly argues that Americans will banish the arsonists engaged in violent crimes in our major urban centers, who have the endorsement of people like Mitt Romney and Joe Biden, and that with its anti-Trump cast on everything, the media has immolated itself.” … “Toughen up, buttercups; your fellow citizens are not going to back a party that endorses looting and violence.”

Now We Have Proof Dr. Fauci Is Full of Crap and Can’t Be Trusted. Matt Margolis – “I used to have faith in Dr. Fauci’s judgement, but that faith has waned over the past few months, and is now completely gone. How exactly does anyone look at what happened in New York and say that’s a model example for fighting the coronavirus?” … “New York is the coronavirus hotspot of the world because they failed to flatten the curve.”
