Despicable, disgusting, dishonest, …

Carol Brown: Remember the Hong Kong flu? – “An I’m-so-cute-and-clever reporter recently asked the president if he deserved to be re-elected given the number of deaths from coronavirus, noting that the number is greater than American fatalities from the Vietnam war.” … “People can always find something as a point of comparison as if that automatically adds weight to what they are implying. No doubt this reporter thought stats from the Vietnam war added gravitas to her query.

Catherine Garcia: Romney says government’s initial response to coronavirus ‘will not stand out as a great moment in American leadership’ – “Romney said he would surround himself with “real experts in crisis management,” listening to “people who have dealt with this more than I have. The key to leadership is recognizing you’re not the smartest guy in the room.” He has no foundation for the implied slurs and no reference for comparison to qualify his slanders. The reality of actual events does not support Romney suggesting he has a problem he needs to address for himself before he gets out trashing others or his government or his country.

Patricia McCarthy: The left’s ‘listen to the science’ mantra is growing old. Trump listened and that’s the problem. – “At every press briefing on the pandemic, the scientists to whom Trump has been listening have presented their data upon which the President has relied. But the numbers extrapolated from their models were all wrong. And now this mass hysteria that has brought the American economy to a full stop is devastating millions and millions of Americans.

“This has all been a very unscientific scam, an avenue for the left to institutionalize their socialist agenda, to destroy the ability of millions of Americans to support themselves and their families. Make them dependent on the government. Control what they can say publicly and online. This is all the stuff of fascism, not science.

President Trump rose to this occasion, confronted the ludicrous CDC and FDA regulations that initially prevented unapproved labs from distributing tests. The bitter media tried their best to undermine the use of hydroxychloroquine simply because Trump mentioned it as a possible cure; it is one of several. The same media trashed every study that proved it is very viable cure. It is the media and the Democrats who reject or ignore any “science” that conflicts with their political agenda.

Andrea Widburg: Gen. Michael Flynn was railroaded by the DOJ, the FBI, and his own attorneys – “Thanks to the dogged efforts of Gen. Michael Flynn’s new attorneys, we’re learning that Flynn was subject to the type of justice that would be found in a courtroom in the Soviet Union or Alice’s Wonderland.”

“The reason the Sixth Amendment says we have the right to counsel is that anyone going up against the vast might and police power of the government deserves to have a knowledgeable friend at his side. In this case, unbeknownst to Flynn, his counsel was at the government’s side and was setting him up to take the fall for faked allegations. To make the corruption worse, the government agents did this to strip Trump of a valuable adviser and to taint his administration with the stench of (faked) corruption. Everyone involved in this should be jailed.

Conrad Black: The Media Versus Trump – “Given the right question and encouragement to answer thoughtfully, most people would agree that Trump is certainly not afraid of the press, as has been suspected of some presidents, and that he is reasonably on top of the subjects discussed.”…It would have been inconceivable, prior to 2017, that any president of the United States would have been peppered with insolent and provoking “questions,” or interrupted so rudely, or debated with so aggressively, by the White House journalists, as this president has through many of these coronavirus briefings.” (but Black falls into the trap with a side comment presuming Trump tells many lies- too bad this deceitful a priori presumption lives like it does)

Victor Davis Hanson: Our Virus Is a Violent Teacher – “Panic ensued. Former madness was declared genius. More were needed in overalls, fewer in yoga pants. A Chevy van was preferable to a year’s pass on the metro. A first-class ticket to Milan was nothing but a trip to nowhere.” … “For a brief season in time, we glimpsed from the awful epidemic what was wheat and what was chaff, what was mahogany beneath and what a scrapped thin veneer above, who were the V8s and who the mere gaudy, tail fins—and how America ultimately got by and how it almost didn’t.

Joseph Curl: COVID-19 turning out to be huge hoax perpetrated by media – “Media hyped the virus and alarmed Americans to the point of shutting down the economy” … “When the postmortem is done on the media’s coverage of COVID-19 (and it will be), it will be clear that the virus was no Black Plague — it’s not even the flu on a bad year.” … “That’s not good. But it’s not as bad as the 2017-2018 flu season, when 80,000 -plus perished. And it’s a long cry from what all the experts were warning about just a few weeks ago: First, they predicted 1.7 million Americans dead; then they redid the models (this time apparently entering a few more “facts”) and said 100,000-240,000 dead.
