Do you celebrate what you did or what you achieved?

You can either celebrate a defeat and destruction of the enemy or the winning of the game played by the rules. Sportsmanship used to require the latter. Leftist politics honors the former as is being seen in the House Majority’s antics regarding impeachment.

Conrad Black: This Tawdry Impeachment Spectacle Must Run Its Course – “The cant and emotionalism that enshrouds this final doomed effort to undo the 2016 election probably require a full trial. The public relations battle must be fought to the end.” … “Since the legal case is nonsense and the outcome foreordained, it is only a public relations battle now.”

“The country will be curious to know whether it must expect this kind of nonsense to be a recurrent theme in its politics, a frequent dilatory and muck-raking procedure. Short of being warned off by the Supreme Court, only a revulsion in public opinion will apparently disabuse nasty and dishonest legislators like Nadler and Schiff from such irresponsible abuse of their positions as is now reaching its tawdry climax.

New York Post: Dems’ impeachment trial strategy: endless circus worse than Kavanaugh hearings – “All this is starting to seem like a farcical replay of the Brett Kavanaugh confirmation hearings, which had wrapped up until Democrats decided to play the Christine Blasey Ford card.” … “The House is supposed to finish its investigation before sending the case to the Senate — not demand the Senate do the real work. What’s to prevent Adam Schiff & Co. from coming up with more Parnases (and Avenattis) to stretch this out for months?

Victor Davis Hanson: The New Post-Trump Constitution (National Review) – “What is far scarier is the reaction to Trump, in both the constitutional and political sense. What follows are likely the new norms for the next generation of presidents, and they will probably be equally applied to Democrats who implemented them in the Trump era.

“We are now on new anti-constitutional grounds, and the United States will probably never return to the constitutional customs and traditions of its first 233 years. The architects of this revolution were not arrayed in sunglasses and epaulets, or in business suits and wing tips, with briefcases. They were hip, cool, and progressive, and they boasted that they did all of this for us, the proverbial people, to cheers from cultural icons, media heavyweights, and those with advanced degrees.

The United States, at least as we knew it, came to an end, not with a loud right-wing bang, but with an insidious progressive whimper.

Tyler Durden: The Virginia Gun Rights Conflict: Best And Worst Case Scenarios – “The current situation in Virginia remains a battle of political rhetoric and “fluid” interpretations of the law.”

“The question then arises: Are these laws worth dying for? I can say with some authority as a long time activist in the liberty movement that the majority of conservatives are willing to risk death to protect their rights. Are state authorities willing to risk death to enforce unconstitutional laws? Because that is where this situation is headed…

The best possible scenario would be that the state government of Virginia realizes that it’s not worth it to try to enforce unconstitutional gun laws, and that the risks are far too high to manage. …

The worst case scenario is that this is an establishment beta test for the rest of the country, and that they may WANT to start a conflict in the hopes that this will spread into a national civil war.

Thomas McArdle: Pelosi’s And Putin’s Remarkably Similar Abuses Of Power – “similar to Putin, Pelosi used a veneer of legitimacy to thwart her nation’s voters.” … “If voters recognize that Pelosi and Putin are applying the same debauched principle for purposes of wielding power, they will mark the common date of their deeds come this November as the day of infamy it was.
