hyperbole, undoing, reality, going to pot

Shutdown reaches the people-will-die stage. Don Surber – “People Will Die is the last-resort of the Democrat Party arguments.” … “The predictions are worthy of a global warmist.”

The great undoing continues. Scott Johnson – “Yesterday Pompeo gave a speech at the American University in Cairo. The speech was a sort of counterpart to Obama’s June 2009 speech in Cairo. Obama’s speech was a nauseating exercise in fake history, destructive diplomacy and strategic self-destruction. By contrast, Secretary Pompeo represents the voice of sanity. In substance he repudiated Obama’s speech and related strategic vision. Pompeo could not have been more blunt.

The Great Issue of Our Time. John Hinderaker – “is whether, as a people, we are too dumb to sustain a democracy. This question arises often; for me, most recently, upon seeing this Daily Mail headline: “Twitter user stuns the internet with math that proves one 18-inch pizza has more in it than TWO 12-inch helpings.”

Marijuana, mental illness, and crime. Paul Mirengoff – “According to Mother Jones’ Stephanie Mencimer, Berensen’s book “takes a sledgehammer to the promised benefits of marijuana legalization, and cannabis enthusiasts are not going to like it one bit.” Her discussion fully justifies this statement.”
