These guys are sick

Hit Gas, Not Brakes, On Spygate by George Neumayr – “From the beginning of this farce, the Obama administration has shifted back and forth between taking pride in the spying and denying its existence. We are back in the denial phase.”

“So far the “evidence” justifying the Obama administration’s spying on the Trump campaign has been stunning in its simpleminded crudity. The “evidence” includes: candidate Trump didn’t condemn Putin enough, Trump once jokingly told Russia to look for Hillary’s deleted emails, the RNC strengthened (but not sufficiently so to the satisfaction of the media) a Russian plank in its platform, Stefan Halper saw Michael Flynn talking to a Russian woman at Cambridge back in 2014, Carter Page gave a speech in Moscow, Russian government officials were overheard talking about the Trump campaign (this is non-evidence hyped as worrisome “signals intelligence” that is common about any presidential campaign), and an Australian diplomat had a chat at a London bar with a Trump campaign volunteer who said something speculative that anybody reading the newspaper could have also ventured.

Is the threshold for something as significant as spying on an opposing presidential campaign really this low? The answer is yes, if those with the power to start the probe are partisans in the grip of Trump Derangement Syndrome. The capacity of John Brennan and Jim Comey to believe the worst about Trump lies at the root of this debacle and explains why they would treat his campaign as a criminal enterprise to be infiltrated.

Naturally, the Stupid Party is hitting the brakes, not gas, on this outrageous scandal. Leave it to the Marco Rubios and Trey Gowdys to sanitize the worst spying on the GOP ever.

How the ruling class closes ranks around lying incompetents, then tries to hector Americans into not seeing what is in front of their noses, is amazing to watch. That major figures of the GOP would join in this charade is sickening but typical and tells you where all of this is headed if the rank-and-file don’t light a fire under GOP leaders. Left to their own cowardly, doltish instincts, they will succumb to the media’s propaganda and attach Trump’s neck to the albatross that by rights should be Obama’s.

Is the FBI Lying about the Australian Diplomat’s Claims, Too? Ace of Spades – “Why are the early days of this investigation always… conveniently overseas, where the John Brennan’s CIA was not forbidden by US law to operate?”

“Jonathan Solomon is also curious why so much of this story — the parts that are still hidden by the CIA and FBI — took place in foreign countries where the CIA was permitted to do all sorts of things that it could not do in America.

Chuck Todd: Isn’t Trump sort of responsible for Samantha Bee’s tone? By Allahpundit gets into the ‘both sides do it’ thang. The problem is that Trump doesn’t use words that need a lot of asterisks to quote and the “Access Hollywood” tape used to support the ‘vulgar Trump’ meme was a private ‘locker room’ conversation from years ago, not a current TV show. The ‘tone’ on the Left, like its attempts to divert and deny, say more about the Left than it does about the Right.

Samantha Bee flashback: Some things will be off limits ‘if we’re going to find the humanity on the other side’ by John Sexton – “What the hell happened to that Samantha Bee?”

“How did she get from “straight-up decency” to calling Ivanka Trump a “feckless c**t” in 18 months? Allahpundit’s explanation, which features a Forrest Gump reference, seems like a good one (‘It’s just this stupid war…’). As is so often the case, left-wing misbehavior is always caused by right-wing provocation. In this case, a photo of Ivanka holding her baby and looking happy, was just too much for Bee’s decency to withstand.

But there’s another possible explanation which goes beyond Bee as an individual. As Erik Wemple notes at the Washington Post, Bee’s remarks seemed to delight her audience:

Samantha Bee isn’t really the core of the problem here, she’s just a symptom. Her vile language is giving voice to lots of angry members of the resistance whose only regret is that she backed down. If Bee went from common decency to vile nut in 18 months it’s probably because she’s chasing her audience.

13 year old reporter causes Sarah Sanders to choke up at WH briefing by Karen Townsend – “The reporter for TIME for Kids magazine asked what President Trump planned to do about school shootings.”

“Naturally, the press lapped up the fact that a child was asking about school shootings and took the opportunity to editorialize that “nothing” has been done.

I guess Jon Karl at ABC missed President Trump unveiling his proposals back in March and some individual state governors have put into law measures to counter school shootings.

Note to Jon Karl: Governor Greg Abbott in Texas is also actively working on finding solutions in preventing school shootings and was set to announce his plans just before the Santa Fe school tragedy happened. He announced a 40 point plan this week.

Dear Ex-Friends in #TheResistance by Julie Kelly – “As the whole charade you have been suckered into over the last 18 months starts to fall apart—that Trump would not survive his presidency; he would be betrayed by his own staff, family, and/or political party; he would destroy the Republican Party; he would be declared mentally ill and removed from office; he would be handcuffed and dragged out of the White House by Robert Mueller for “colluding” with Russia—let me remind you what complete fools you have made of yourselves. Not to mention how you’ve been fooled by the media, the Democratic Party, and your new heroes on the NeverTrump Right.”
