Hubris calling

Lockdowns, Unpunished Crime, And Climate Hysteria: The Roots Of Our Three Biggest Disasters. Christopher Bedford – “In the end, we didn’t crush the virus, but we did crush a lot of ordinary people.” … “Following lockdowns, “excess mortality increases.” … people, businesses, and communities were destroyed because some public health “experts” were dead-certain this was needed to save lives. The predictable irony is they weren’t saving lives at all — just making you miserable and poorer in return for nothing.” … “Why did we fail? The answer is a vice the ancient Greeks understood well: Hubris.”

MI Rep Daire Rendon (R): “I am in receipt of evidence reflecting systemic election fraud in MI that occurred in the November 2020 election”. Patty McMurray – “Last week, the MI Senate Oversight Committee Chair Ed McBroom and MI Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey, who have both admitted they would consider a forensic audit in their state if Arizona finds meaningful evidence of voter fraud in their forensic audit, released a report stating that they could find no evidence of “widespread or systemic fraud” in Michigan’s November election.”

Jill Biden’s Vogue Cover Proves The Magazine Prioritizes Politics Over Fashion. Evita Duffy – “After four years of shunning the most fashionable first lady in American history, and a literal super model, Vogue Magazine is putting Jill Biden on the cover.” … “As America looks dully at Jill’s ensemble one could probably pick out in the grandma section at Target, we are reminded of overlooked former model and First Lady Melania Trump. Melania’s poise, beauty, and taste are incomparable to any first lady in recent memory.” – pictures to see!

Vogue declares Jill Biden ‘a goddess’ and puts her on their cover as the epitome of style. Monica Showalter – “It goes to show that its whole schtick is politics, not fashion. After all, the big fashion bible for the world’s stylish somehow managed to overlook the nation’s truly stylish first lady, Melania Trump, a former super-model, who not only was quite beautiful, but age-appropriate and elegant in her four years as first lady. To claim that Jill Biden somehow tops her as a fashion icon is laughable.”

Our ‘Woke’ Pentagon Leaders Are Weakening America’s Defense. I & I Editorial Board – “Milley’s responses to the legitimate concerns by members of Congress over his defense of the extreme left course he has charted for the military have been both disingenuous and historically ignorant.”

“Dead on. If our next war is fought not by patriotic Americans who love their county, but by angry people with deep racial grievances and guilty social justice warriors who think they live in an unjust dystopia, our nation and the world will be in big trouble. And don’t kid yourself. So will you.

“Panic Porn Dressed Up As Science” – Exposing The Truth About The Delta Variant. Tyler Durden– “Equity futures are in the red Wednesday morning as Dr. Anthony Fauci’s warnings about the supposedly “dire threat” posed by the Delta variant continue to be dramatically amplified by the American media.” … “Delta is literally the flu with a CFR identical to it. This is exactly what every respiratory pandemic has done through history: morphed into more transmissible and less virulent form that forces the other mutations out since you get that one. Nothing about masks, lockdowns, or experimental shots did this.”

Political warfare pushed to extremes

January 6 Cases Being Treated More Harshly by DOJ. Leslie McAdoo Gordon – “A comparison of the January 6 cases to other federal cases involving the same kind of conduct demonstrates that the January 6 cases are being treated significantly more harshly by DOJ and the D.C. U.S. Attorney’s Office.” … “There is no justification for this gross disparity in the treatment of two individuals who have engaged in comparable conduct.”

“It is difficult to see the disparity in the treatment of comparable non-violent misdemeanor cases with similar facts as anything other than a gross abuse of prosecutorial power. The public, the media, and Republican lawmakers should demand that the flagrant disparity in the treatment of these January 6 protestors cease immediately. Scores of lives will be seriously and unnecessarily damaged if this abusive process is allowed to continue, to say nothing of the destruction of the public’s faith in the neutrality of the criminal justice system.

The Emerging Reality Is the Biden Justice Department Will Charge Everyone It Can Identify for Capitol Protests. Shipwreckedcrew – “The simple reality is that prosecutors in the DC US Attorney’s Office are not exercising prosecutorial discretion to decline to bring charges against individuals who were merely present inside the Capitol on January 6, with no evidence that they did anything else.”

“the heavy-handed policy of “no exceptions” which is being followed only ensures that the damage to the country created by political divisions which exist will only get worse. It is a statement by the Biden Administration that it intends to criminalize to the greatest extent allowed by law the sentiment following the 2020 election that the outcome was not legitimate.

More significantly, it is a legitimate basis upon which the segment of the population who politically oppose the Biden Administration can reasonably claim the Administration is employing the criminal justice system to delegitimize that political opposition by declaring it to be based in criminality.

The Cruel Progressive Creed Undoing Civilization. Victor Davis Hanson – “The Left’s progressive wasteland is an acceptable price to pay for the terrifying visions of its anointed.”

“The new progressivism is not the old Democratic Party, or even 1960s’ liberalism. It is a cruel creed, a faith-based ideology that allows no apostasies. Progressivism envisions humanity as a marbleized abstraction, not incarnate humans. If need be, it will alter language, change names, cancel people, erase events, and destroy elements of existing civilization. It stereotypes both adherents and opponents as either useful or disposable. And the carnage it wreaks on the masses is always acceptable damage for these terrifying visions of the anointed.

9 Most Insane Lies About Georgia’s Voter ID Law In The DOJ’s Lawsuit. Margot Cleveland – “From claiming Georgia lawmakers are racist to relitigating 2020 voter fraud cases, the Biden Department of Justice’s complaint against Georgia would be laughable if it weren’t so frightening.”

Mitt Romney’s malicious envy. Patricia McCarthy – “Romney wins the prize among the pathetic group of RINOS who think they can vanquish Trump by treating him and his supporters like pond scum. The problem with the left and the RINOS is that they assume, with no hint of irony, that they are smart and the rest of us are not. Actually, it is they who are blinkered to the point of blindness.” … “He should beware; “it is never wise to seek or wish for another’s misfortune. If malice or envy were tangible and had a shape, it would be the shape of a boomerang.”

Bruce Pascoe’s Top Ten Howlers. Mark Powell – “Peter Sutton and Keryn Walshe’s, Farmers or Hunter-Gatherers? is a game-changer. Not just as an academic assessment of Bruce Pascoe’s Dark Emu but as part of a wider political discourse.” … “What follows is a ten-point summary as to the most salient criticisms”

Deaths in the US in 2020. Kevin Roche – “The Society of Actuaries studies death patterns in the US. This information is used by life and health insurance companies and others who need to know how long people might live and what they might die from.”

Indoctrination and dissing who brung ya’ to the dance

How I Got Classified as an Anti-Government Domestic Extremist. Max Morton – “ When the United States says you are the most dangerous threat it faces, your life is about to change for the worse. The Biden Administration has just told conservative Americans they are that threat.” … “Notwithstanding the troubling legal aspects, the assessment also lacked evidence to back up its broad assertions that America’s greatest threat comes from domestic extremists.”

Understanding White Rage. Don Surber – “readers are very kind to me. They point out typos and send me news items. They share their experiences with me. Usually, I keep it to myself but every now and then, circumstances warrant my sharing the story with all my readers.”

New Anti-Gun Argument: Jesus Hates Guns and if You Own One, You Don’t Love Jesus. Streiff – “As a Catholic, I don’t follow the doings of Protestants in any great detail. But Christianity Today gives the appearance of going the route laid out by David Burge, aka Iowahawk, years ago” … “The Catechism of the Catholic Church states in very strong terms that protecting others from harm is part of the Golden Rule. That extends to the use of deadly force if there is no other way.”

“No matter how you come down on guns, we should be able to agree that murder is wrong, that self-defense is a right, that defending the helpless is an obligation, and that gun regulation is a secular policy argument and not theology.

A Teachers’ Guide to Miseducating the Young. Tony Thomas – “If your child knows all about climate armageddon but has no clue how to use an apostrophe, thank a teacher.” … “The indoctrination was poorly vetted by a 20-person academic panel.”

“Broadcaster Alan Jones has pointed out that schools have successfully lobbied for air conditioning, which should be the first to go if the book’s authors are serious about reducing schools’ electricity. Kids can also walk, bike or use public transport for school. Hooray.

America-hater Gwen Berry shows her disrespect for U.S. flag at Olympic trials. Monica Showalter – “Despite the statements from Olympics officials in Japan, that political demonstrators will be punished, the Colin Kaepernick crowd among the Olympic contenders here have gotten busy”

“Why the heck is this creature permitted to compete at all for the U.S., given her seething hate for the country that gave her all those opportunities to develop her talent? Can you say ‘height of ingratitude’? Can you imagine what some competitor athlete from, say, Kenya or Malawi might be thinking? Some other flag for this person with all those problems with America might be more appropriate.

As Dinesh d’Souza noted, this is very bad for the Olympics in general

Putting Climate Models On Trial. I & I Editorial Board – “Bad news for the New Green Dealers, good news for reason and science, which is obviously never settled. The findings should force researchers to reevaluate, because … ”

“Somewhere we read a comment that said, and we liberally paraphrase, the alarmists are rushing policymakers into doing something, anything about warming before it becomes universally obvious that nothing needs to be done. That’s exactly why the models need to be put in the dock.

Social Media Censorship: Scientist Corrects Anti-GMO Silliness, Facebook Threatens To Ban Him. Cameron English – “Facebook has proven itself incapable of reliably preventing the spread of “misinformation.” If we needed more evidence, the company recently threatened to “restrict” the account of a prominent researcher for talking about science.” … “companies like Facebook are crippled by partisanship and double standards.”

Shocker: Lisbon court rules that only 0.9% of ‘verified cases’ attributed to COVID in Portugal actually died of it. Thomas Lifson – “The campaign to scare the world into adopting unprecedented abridgments of civil liberties to fight a purported pandemic that threatened unthinkable levels of casualties had a lot of help from the officials charged with counting the death toll.”

Reality is bubbling out from under the rug

Raucous overflow rally crowd greets Trump in Ohio as he looks great and savages Biden’s record. Andrea Widburg – “Technically speaking, Donald Trump is a loser. After all, it’s Biden who’s occupying the Oval Office. But let’s not get entangled in technicalities. Forty-one percent of Americans believe that Trump actually won the election and that Biden’s ascension was the result of fraud, with over half of Republicans holding that belief. And as Biden has managed, remarkably swiftly, to destroy the border, the economy, the military, education, and more, worried patriots are redoubling their support for Trump.” … “What’s apparent is that Trump wants to see America and Americans win. And if his Ohio rally is an indication, that’s what Americans still want too.”

Here’s what New York’s AG and Manhattan’s DA seem to have come up with so far… neo – “The left will not be giving up their Ahab-like pursuit of that great orange whale, Donald Trump, any time soon.”

Politics by other means? Giuliani suspension should worry all lawyers. Jonathan Turley – “the fluid standard applied in Giuliani’s case raises serious concerns over how and when such suspensions will be imposed against lawyers in public controversies. Indeed, the Giuliani standard would seem to implicate a wide array of attorneys who straddle the line of legal and political advocacy. … The 33-page opinion is damning and embarrassing” – Turley shows his bias in failing to note blatant false allegations in the suspension and in following the‘establishment of a case’ narrative.

“The New York court brushes over the free speech implications of its ruling with a conclusory statement that Giuliani knowingly misrepresented facts, even though it did not afford him a hearing on that or other questions.

It is not enough to declare “Don’t be like Giuliani.” What is missing in this opinion is a clear standard for when the failure to establish a case — as Giuliani failed to do with his election fraud claims — is a disbarring offense.
The concern in this case is that we are seeing a weaponization of bar investigations after a wide (and well-funded) campaign to harass Republican lawyers, their firms and their clients after the 2020 election. And it has worked

A.U.D.I.T. of Elections: Is the Dam Breaking? Stu Cvrk – “Election-related revelations continue apace, and suspicions about what actually transpired last November continue to grow” … “Democrats continue to fiddle while Rome burns, ignoring the mounting evidence of election fraud perpetrated by their own operatives.”

How Economist Thomas Sowell’s Warning About Combating Racial Disparities Came True. Jason Riley – “It is awkward to stand on the sidelines and criticize people who are suffering for their ideals, and yet the question must be asked, ‘What is this going to do?’

Sarah Hoyt at Instapundit – “What became very clear to me is that whenever civilized (in this case defined as post-tribal) humans collide with tribal humans, tribal humans lose. They use the techniques that work in between tribes, imagining that their adversaries are also a tribe”

Happy Birthday, Global Warming: Climate Change At 33. Rupert Darwell [] – “The tendency to catastrophism was present at the outset of global warming. … Although catastrophism gave climate change emotive power, the most consistent feature of climate change is the failure of predictions of catastrophe to materialize.”

“The most important features of the 1992 climate convention are its ground plan, carving the world in two, with the developed North listed in Annex I, and the doctrine of “common but differentiated responsibilities” (the first principle listed in the convention and arguably its governing one).
Nuclear power is a Promethean crime of humanity stealing the deepest secrets of nature to release unlimited quantities of energy, in the eyes of environmentalists—a crime far worse than global warming.
The growth of wind and solar generation is not a market-driven phenomenon of a superior technology displacing an obsolete one. It’s what happens when governments heavily subsidize zero-marginal cost output, flooding wholesale markets with unwanted electricity when there’s too much sun and wind and risking power failures when there’s too little.
So far, the grip of environmentalism on Western policymakers lulls them into the belief that global warming operates in a strategic vacuum, insulated from the factors that constitute geopolitical weight and ambition. It is in that sense that climate change constitutes an existential threat to the West.

Ivermectin: Can a Drug Be “Right-Wing”? Matt Taibbi via [TK News] – “Hospitals fought hard, hiring expensive law firms, at times going to extraordinary lengths to refuse treatment even with dying patients who’d exhausted all other options.” … “The drug has become a test case for a controversy that’s long been building in health care, about how much input patients should have in their own treatment.”

Fantasies with a purpose

Why Are They Woke? Victor Davis Hanson – “The systemic con behind wokeism.” … “There are lots of reasons why wokeism spread like wildfire once America lost its collective mind during the pandemic, quarantine, self-induced recession, and rioting of 2020. – Wokeism was never really about racism, sexism, or other -isms. Instead, for some, it illustrated a psychological pathology of projection: fobbing one’s own concrete prejudices onto others in order to alleviate or mask them. ”

After A Judge’s Dismissal And A Damning Report, BLM May Have To Admit What Really Happened In Lafayette Park. Margot Cleveland – “Black Lives Matter must reframe their case, acknowledging the falsity of their initial allegations, or risk sanctions for alleging facts without evidentiary support.” … “pivoting from the “Trump tear-gassed protesters for a photo op” angle will prove challenging — the corrupt media couldn’t bring themselves to do so.” – compare and contrast to the reasons used to go after Giuliani in New York. See Rudy Giuliani’s law license suspended in NY over statements on voter fraud by Ben Feuerherd and Carl Campanile.

Pelosi: ‘Root Causes’ of Capitol ‘Insurrection’ Were ‘White Supremacy, Anti-Semitism, Islamophobia’. Robert Spencer – “it’s a paranoid Leftist fantasy with a purpose. The Capitol riot is really Leftists’ Reichstag Fire moment, and they’re clearly going to use it to demonize, stigmatize, and silence all opposition to their agenda.”

“Ugh”: CNN Contributor and Law Professor Steve Vladeck Responds to Criticism Over Debunked Conspiracy Theory. J. Turley – “a defense that is striking in its sheer mendacity. It is, however, illustrative how false narratives are promulgated in the media and then, when shown to be unsupported, are dismissed or barely acknowledged.”

From Plato to Black Lives Matter. Rafe Champion – “The equal opportunity movement of modern times is valuable, but the shift from equal opportunity to affirmative action is practically irresistible for people who are impatient to better the lot of their fellows. The shift may appear to be modest, but it has converted the equal opportunity and anti-racist movement into a vehicle of racism, intolerance, division and destruction.”

“Western philosophy has been described as footnotes to Plato, and among the footnotes is The Open Society and Its Enemies, with Karl Popper’s critique of Plato’s later works, especially Republic and Laws. Popper found at last four elements of totalitarian thought in Plato. First is “racialism”, or “race thinking” as Jacques Barzun called it. Second is the concept of collective justice that Plato proposed to replace individual justice. Third is revolutionary canvas-cleaning to sweep away everything old and start again. Fourth is fake news, which Plato dignified with the title of noble lies.

Everything Corporate Media Said About The Bishops’ Conference Is False. Haley Strack – “Leftist media is politicizing the bishops’ meeting — not the other way around. And their almost every interpretation of the meeting is misguided and blatantly false.”

“For all of corporate media’s familiarity with Catholicism (they’re all faithful church-goers, no doubt), they’ve butchered Catholic teaching to fit an anti-religion narrative they’ve been pushing for decades. It’s time to hold them accountable.
Much to the left’s chagrin, the Catholic Church is not a woke organization that prioritizes inclusivity over truth.

Chairman Milley Degrades, Divides and Politicizes the Military. Daniel Greenfield – “General Milley of the Joint Chiefs of Staff turned in a performance that was part gaslighting and part humiliating theater.”

U. of Oklahoma Instructors Receive Training on How to Censor, Indoctrinate Students. Mike LaChance – “raises alarm bells about the state of free expression and freedom of conscience at Oklahoma’s flagship university”

The Human and Financial Cost of Ignoring Generic Therapeutics In Favor Of Novel Vaccines. Parker Beauregard – “The mainstream media, global elitists, and prominent Democrat politicians have blood on their hands for the avoidable deaths of countless Americans.” … “The illogical and completely political response to Covid cannot be overstated. It was immoral in its intent and murderous in its outcomes. Americans paid a price for the medical community’s failures. Will anyone now pay a price for the crimes committed against this country?”

Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman rattles Muslim clergy, challenges sources of sharia. Thomas Lifson – “This is huge. Those of us who have had hopes that Saudi Arabia can be transformed from a sponsor of hard-line jihad into a modernizing force in the Islamic world have cause for optimism.”

Deprogramming goes with indoctrination

Democrats — Not Republicans — Are The Radicals To Worry About: Here’s The Proof. I & I Editorial Board – “This is the mother of Big Lies!”

“Every day, it is the Democratic Party that is pushing an agenda more radical than yesterday. Its agenda is comprised of critical race theory, defunding police, open borders, socialism, nationalized health care, a federal takeover of elections, extremist environmentalism, packing the Supreme Court, killing the filibuster, the Green New Deal, cancel culture. None of these gets majority support in this country.

This isn’t just a small slice of the Democratic Party, either. Poll after poll shows that it is those who identify as Democrats who are way out of the mainstream. Let’s review some of the recent polling evidence to show who’s actually been radicalized in this country.
So, tell us again which side has been radicalized? Which side deserves to be kicked off social media, investigated by the Justice Department, hounded by corporations, ostracized from polite society? Which is the side we’re supposed to worry about?

It’s Outright War on Conservatives. Janet Levy – “When crises are manufactured to target ideological foes and real threats are ignored, safety, security, and civil rights are sacrificed. In all its dogmatism and intolerance, the progressive agenda of enforced cultural conformism is gaining ground. The pushback that has already begun must become fierce.”

Pursuing vengeance: on prosecuting Trump. Neo – “You can do some things legally that you shouldn’t do. Many tyrannies use the letter of the law to wreak tyranny. But people often wish vengeance on those they perceive as their enemies, and can justify things they would be against if the tables were turned.”

Deprogramming of January 6 Defendants Is Underway. Julie Kelly – “The entire investigation is an attempt to prosecute people based on their beliefs. Those who purge their views and admit their wrongthink will be given mercy. Those who don’t will pay dearly.”

“On Wednesday, Lloyd, who has a clean criminal record, pleaded guilty to one count of “parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a Capitol building”—but not before she consented to undergo a reeducation exercise at the urging of her court-appointed lawyer. (Like many January 6 defendants, Lloyd does not have the means to hire a private attorney.)
On the face of it, there’s nothing wrong with watching or reading any of Shaner’s “booklist.” What is very wrong is a taxpayer-paid attorney—one who is supposed to fight the government’s charges related to January 6, not play along with its phony depiction that “white supremacists” attacked the Capitol—using her authority to reprogram the political views of people she is supposed to be defending. The presumption of racist beliefs is automatic.

Court Dismisses BLM Lawsuit Against Federal Agencies Over Lafayette Park Protests. J. Turley – “federal judge Dabney L. Friedrich has dismissed the lawsuit by the ACLU and Black Lives Matter as based on unsupported and unsubstantiated claims against the federal agencies. Ironically, the court allowed the lawsuit against the MPD under Mayor Muriel Bowser to continue.” … “What is most striking in the opinion is the utter lack of evidence presented by ACLU” … “There is also little recognition of the striking disconnect between what Bowser has claimed publicly and what her Administration has argued in court.”

Evidence Mounts — Chauvin Did Not Murder Floyd. Jack Cashill – “The strange evolution of the prosecution’s asphyxiation charge.”

China’s COVID Coup. Conrad Black – “China deserves credit for a remarkable feat of strategic improvisation in translating a public health crisis into a large economical and geopolitical advance at the expense of the West.”

“Assuming the SARS-CoV-2 virus escaped accidentally, China must be credited for a remarkable coup of strategic improvisation in translating a public health crisis into a large economical and geopolitical advance at the expense of the West.
No country in the history of the world has made such a prodigious effort to make up for the injustices of the past as America has done with respect to blacks.
National self-loathing rules the American academy and most of the school system and is at the root of the troubling fact that, as Western society has consecrated greater and greater resources to education in the past 50 years, it has produced a steadily stupider crop of graduates. This unfortunate phenomenon has produced more destructive and less professionally rigorous media and declining standards of public entertainment.

Five tenets of CRT and what they mean. Neo – “One of the problems with discussing and debating CRT is that it’s a complicated set of teachings and beliefs about which people know very little, and which probably vary at least somewhat according to who is doing the trainings.” … “Those who are promoting CRT leave out all the costs, and are mum about the anti-white racism inherent in those costs. However, word has been getting out lately, and more people (not enough, but more) are starting to understand what CRT is actually about in practice.”

Story by Story, Canada’s News Media Built Indigenous Oppression. Katłįà (Catherine) Lafferty – “How relentlessly racist framing helped ‘write’ the Indian Act — and persists today.” One needs to keep in mind that this is an issue one finds on the table only in British based countries. Much like slavery, the ‘indigenous’ brouhaha is big mostly where it has been addressed and not killed. That makes arguments like presented here hypocritical.

Fake Science: COVID and Global Warming. Norman Rogers – “The scientists guiding our COVID response have been exposed as driven by politics, not science. … If one of their fellow scientists departs from orthodoxy, scientists sign petitions denouncing him.”

“Given the COVID example, it is now not so incredible to think that the scientists promoting global warming have ulterior motives. The Texas A&M University atmospheric sciences faculty sign a loyalty oath to global warming. The editor of the academic journal Remote Sensing was forced to resign because he published a perfectly legitimate paper critical of climate models. Cancel culture is strong among the global warming scientists. Every effort is made to cancel dissenters. There is no such thing as an early career scientist skeptical concerning global warming. He could never get a job, even if somehow he could get his Ph.D. This is not because the science is solid. It’s because orthodoxy is ruthlessly enforced to protect the career interests of the global warming establishment.
Today the scientific-technological elite makes up crises in order to prime the federal money pump.

The Greatest Heat Wave In (US) Northwest History? Cliff Mass – “Let me show you… the forecasts are simply insane.”

connections with reality

A Eulogy to the Rule of Law: The Political Prosecution of President Trump. Eric Schmitt – “Leftists in the United States are increasingly weaponizing investigations to persecute and prosecute their opponents for politics and policy differences. The left’s conduct is similar to the conduct you find in a banana republic where the authoritarian state punishes its political enemies with criminal prosecutions in search of crimes.”

“For five years, with no evidence, and failure after failure, the Left has been in search of crime to get President Trump and his family. Rather than debating policy differences like taxes, energy prices, immigration, rising violent crime, and more, the Left is focused on indictments and even incarceration for those who dare not conform to their liberal views. We must have the courage to call out this insanity before it becomes normalized. We must fight to save this Republic and the rule of law. If we don’t, or if we choose to remain silent, we will become just another junk banana republic slip-sliding down that Shining City on a Hill.

The Overblown Oathkeepers Indictment. Stu Cvrk – “Are the DoJ and FBI grasping at straws in going after Oathkeepers for an alleged conspiracy to carry out an “armed insurrection” by invading Capitol Hill on 6 January? Is the incarceration of hundreds of people on flimsy charges in the aftermath of the riot merely political theater, or is it something far worse? How much longer will those people be held in pre-trial confinement? Will we ever see the thousands of hours of video taken inside the Capitol building on 6 January that has been withheld?”

Chicago shows the existential danger behind the Democrats’ policies. Andrea Widburg – “A brutal, race-based execution on a major Chicago street highlights where Democrat policies are taking us. Their obsessive focus on race, coupled with their attacks on moral law, criminal justice, and social norms, will turn all of America into Chicago unless we refuse to go along with a program that affects every facet of American life, from the federal government down to the smallest school board.”

“What we are seeing here is a return to stone-age savagery. It is a reminder that human beings have only the thinnest veneer of civilization. The Enlightenment pulled us away from the brutal cruelty that was the norm for pre-modern man. However, as Nazi Germany shows, embracing tribal loyalties and removing the breaks on civilized behavior can, in just a few years, transform the world’s most advanced and civilized society into a collection of brutal, bloodthirsty, sadistic animals.

It’s not about skin color because the Nazis were White and the people in that video are Black. Instead, it’s about taking away the brakes.

What are those brakes? A divine moral code (i.e., religion), force (law enforcement and criminal justice), and social norms. Beginning in the 1960s and with accelerating force that went into overdrive in 2020, Democrats have removed each of those brakes.
Lastly, in an act of cynical racism, Democrats destroyed the social norms that bind Americans together and lead to a modicum of respect among people.

The Truth: Biden is Supposed to DENY HIMSELF Communion. Selwyn Duke – “the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops is drafting a “teaching document” about the meaning of the sacrament — some Democrats are tacitly indicating that they consider church attendance a ploy and Communion a prop. They’re signaling that they have no respect for the Church — even as they imply that receiving Communion from it is an imperative.” … “these Democrats’ position is so irrational that no one taking his faith seriously could embrace it.”

“Unlike the Poles and the woman I mentioned earlier, these left-wing politicians don’t even have the respect to abide by the rules of an institution to which they belong voluntarily. So the truth is that contrary to billing, Biden isn’t just not a devout Catholic — he’s not even a good non-devout Catholic.

Religion is not a process or a formula. The teachings of a church attempt to connect the behavior of its members with its ideology. When that connection is shattered, the organization becomes broken.

Lawfare and the corruption of reason and integrity

Jan. 6 Suspects Held Without Bail More Un-American Than Capitol Incursion. I & I Editorial Board – “We know many have been denied bail, some apparently condemned to solitary confinement. Meanwhile, Antifa and Black Lives Matter rioters are breezily waved through the system if they’re arrested at all. – Is this still America? – Or a tyranny where political dissenters are disappeared?”
… “To call the events of Jan. 6 an “insurrection” is one of the most dishonest narratives in the modern media and political era. ”
… “Democrats are working hard to convince the public that it’s more than it was – overheated emotions that were manifested in trespassing, scuffling with authorities, vandalism, and theft – and are using those being detained in a cruel way to send a message: Political dissension will not be tolerated. It’s the same message tyrants have been sending for decades.”

The McCloskeys Plead Guilty To Minor Misdemeanors In Conclusion Of St. Louis Protest Case. Jonathan Turley – “Gardner spent a huge amount of time and money on this effort in order to secure these misdemeanors. Yet, there appears to be little pushback on the over-charging of the couple and her own questionable conduct as a prosecutor in the case. … In the meantime, the case has made McCloskey popular with many in the state and he is now running for the Senate.”

The audacity of the left. Neo – “The Soviets of my youth seemed quite obviously ruthless, but today’s US left is more subtle. Or at least it was more subtle for a while.” … “It’s profoundly disturbing and disorienting to see so many people willing to say that two and two equals five, and to pat themselves on the back for doing so and to revile anyone who doesn’t agree. And unlike Winston they don’t even have to be tortured in order to do it.”

The Supreme Court Ducks Another Foundational Issue By Claiming Obamacare Litigants Have No Standing to Sue. Ace of Spades.

The Supreme Court’s Day of Reckoning is Coming. John Green – “The election of 2020 is going to lay bare the dereliction of the Supreme Court for all to see.” … “It ruled that the plaintiffs lacked standing because nobody had been harmed — yet. Since the election hadn’t happened, nobody was damaged, and there was no case to be heard. They were thinking like a civil court, not the defenders of the Constitution they are sworn to be.”

Bill Barr: Public Schools Are Becoming Unconstitutional ‘Secular-Progressive Madrassas’. Joy Pullmann – “’It may no longer be fair, practical, or even constitutional to provide publicly-funded education solely through the vehicle of state-operated schools,’ the two-time U.S. attorney general contends.”

Moms Must Keep Hammering School Boards Until Critical Race Theory Is Dead. Carina Benton – “Nationwide, mothers in school districts are pushing back against Marxist-infused critical race theory curricula in order to protect their children.”

Predatory Litigation Is A Threat To Small Business Recovery. Mario H. Lopez – “Business owners and innovators should be able to operate with the confidence that they will not be shaken down by predatory litigators without any just cause. ”

Biden’s bad run: Is he doing worse in the courts than Trump? Jonathan Turley – “President Biden repeatedly framed his campaign and his administration as defending “the rule of law” after what he and others portrayed as the lawless reign of President Trump. … What is not being as fully reported is that Biden actually has racked up a litany of notable court losses that may now exceed those of his predecessor in his first six months.”

Joe Biden Just Did What the Democrats Impeached Donald Trump For. Bonchie – “Freezing lethal aid to Ukraine in order to thwart Russia is now good again. All it took was Donald Trump leaving office. Weird, right?”

The IRS Is At It Again. John Hinderaker – “No sooner have the Democrats retaken the White House than the IRS again feels free to use its power to advance partisan interests. This actually happened in May, but it is just now hitting the news: the IRS denied 501(c)(3) nonprofit status to an organization called Christians Engaged. The IRS explained that Christian doctrines are Republican:”

Following the Scientists Who Were Destroying America Just to Spite Trump. Brian C. Joondeph – “Those who question the science are at best called names, like “deniers” or “racists”, and at worst, lose their jobs and reputations, and are banned from social media.” … “Scientists are supposed to follow the scientific method” … “nstead, with both climate science and COVID the process has been reversed, ignoring or jiggering the data to conform with a predetermined hypothesis” … “These scientists ignored science over the fear of somehow being associated with Trump or proving him correct. What is the state of scientific thought if following the science can be construed as racist?”

“How many people could have avoided hospitalization and death if these inexpensive and safe drugs were made available rather than banned, threatening the medical licenses of physicians daring to prescribe them, and firing or ostracizing those promoting their use? Or deplatforming their websites, as Amazon recently did to America’s Frontline Doctors.

Was vaccine safety and efficacy reported honestly? Or is politics guiding vaccination policy too? Not to mention masks, distancing, school and business closures, lockdowns, and quarantining the healthy. Were these measures science based or simply anti-Trump measures?

Did the medical and scientific establishment wreck the American economy, and destroy millions of families and businesses simply because “it was scarier to be associated with Trump”? How many Americans died or suffered medically due to virtue signaling scientists?
Once highly trusted, scientific and medical experts have taken a big step backward, with trustworthiness now approaching cable news or Congress levels. And they are unlikely to recover from their self-inflicted wounds.

When Brains Go Woke and Brawn Goes Bust. Ed McEff – “The football program seeks and recruits the best players from the best high school programs. Recruits have been assessed for their mental toughness, speed, agility, and pure brute strength. … Medical school recruits get good grades on a myriad of academic exams and programs. … These two programs are classic meritocracies — they consciously and deliberately compete across the world to recruit and retain the elites, trying to be the best football team and the best medical school they can manage. They are consciously and openly striving for excellence, not mediocrity.”

The Death of Rational Science. Jack Gleason – “In science, honesty is key. If you cheat in your experiment, you won’t get a useful result.” … “mistakes are valuable tools in the quest for truth. Accepting the hypotheses and experiments of others, and replicating the results, is the key to improvement in all areas of human life. … Recently the scientific method has fallen out of favor to be replaced with a quest for “fairness” and “what feels right.” … “We are two worlds living together. Those on the right see science as a tool to learn and improve, the Left sees science as something they can manipulate in order to justify their agenda.”

Historian’s Corner: Assessing America in the Age of Woke. Jennifer Hanson – “Woke mandatory brainwashing and reeducation are spreading throughout the work force. Our major institutions such as the campus, the military, the corporate boardroom, Wall Street, and K-12 are in chaos. Would-be opportunistic and careerist Maoists come out of the woodwork to insist on using these platforms to reinvent us along the lines of the 1619 vision.”

Anatomy of the Woke Madness. Victor Davis Hanson – “How did such collective madness infect a once pragmatic and commonsensical America?” … “wokeism has done a lot of damage to America, and will do even more if left unchecked. Here are its chief characteristics.”

What are your standards of reference?

This Biden Guy Doesn’t Seem Very Presidential. Stephen Kruiser – “We heard the word “presidential” thrown around a lot after Donald Trump took office in 2017. His detractors felt that he wasn’t embodying the presidential vibe, whatever that means. After eight years of Barack Obama’s mom jeans-clad malignant narcissism, the concept had gotten a little muddled. … Whatever “presidential” is supposed to be, the Democrats and their flying monkeys in the mainstream media repeatedly assured us that Trump wasn’t it. … Perhaps the most reiterated of the Biden campaign selling points was that he was going to bring dignity back to the office of president. Make things more, you know, presidential.”

“Behavior that was a threat to the First Amendment last year at this time is now a ray of sunshine in a dark world. And presumably dignified and presidential.

These people are all clinically insane.

The Left’s Logic-Defying Race Rhetoric Is Making Normal People’s Heads Spin. John Murawski – “These apparent contradictions can cause confusion, frustration and moral whiplash in a swiftly changing society where many people fear that one wayward move can result in a public flogging or a pink slip.” … “The paradoxes come in a variety of iterations, from moral imperatives to abstract propositions.” … “Others see the self-cancelling propositions in more sinister terms: as moral double-binds and Orwellian doublespeak deliberately designed to deceive, entrap and neutralize political opponents.” … “That left Murray with only one possible conclusion: “Their desire is not to heal but to divide, not to placate but to inflame, not to dampen but to burn.”

Biden’s Creeping Police State. I & I Editorial Board – “The Bidenites are clear who they’re targeting, and it isn’t BLM or Antifa” … “This isn’t just boilerplate. Biden is turning the Department of Justice, FBI and CIA into politicized arms of the state, with huge resources to go after those the White House doesn’t like.”

Trained observer noted ‘agents provocateur’ during Capitol riot amid new report govt. operatives may have been involved. Jon Dougherty – “Reports Tuesday suggesting that elements of the national security and federal law enforcement establishment may have been involved in planning and fomenting the Jan 6 riot sound shockingly similar to observations made a week after the incident by a trained analyst who’s an expert in “propaganda, political warfare, psychological warfare, and subversion.”

The FBI’s role in the Jan. 6 Capitol fracas is absolutely disgusting. J.B. Shurk – “I think we can dispense with the overly protective pleasantries at this point. The FBI is a goon squad of un-American thugs who have taken the worst elements of East Germany’s Stasi police state and Cosa Nostra’s organized crime and turned them into a blueprint for exercising and keeping illegitimate power over their enemies.” … “Just as the FBI has subverted justice in order to “get Trump,” it has gone out of its way to provide the Democratic Party and all its “intersectional” tribes general immunity.”

Jack Phillips to appeal Colorado judge’s decision over gender transition cake. Evie Fordham – “Phillips won a case before the Supreme Court in 2018” … “Waggoner said the case “represents a disturbing trend: the weaponization of our justice system to ruin those with whom the activists disagree.”

“Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, denounced Jones’ decision Wednesday. “This is religious persecution. Naked & unabashed,” Cruz wrote on Twitter. “And it is lawless disregard of binding Supreme Court precedent.”

persistence despite any lessons of experience. Try, try, again and again. This is what society is up against. It doesn’t help is SCOTUS bypasses its responsibilities by avoiding decisions because the injured party lacks standing – but that is another case.

What If the Media Had Told the Truth? Five MSM Lies for Which Trump Has Been Vindicated, and the Damage They Caused. PF Whalen – “While the media may have been successful in sustaining political damage against Trump, the Republican Party, and the conservative movement – which was their ultimate goal, no doubt – they also caused significant collateral damage, either unwittingly or uncaringly.”

An Explanation of Tactics to Fundamentally Transform America. Janet Levy – “Howse’s documentary contemporizes Bezmenov’s warning. It sets out the twelve-step process of brainwashing aimed at effecting a Marxist revolution in America and illustrates it using events from the coronavirus pandemic.”

“America is now at a point where its free-market system, constitutional republic, Judeo-Christian values, and national sovereignty are seriously threatened. The techniques of disinformation, brainwashing, and indoctrination, contrived to make citizens willingly submit to authoritarian control, are the precursors to the collapse of America from within.
Being born free is a privilege our forefathers fought for and won. Now, more than ever, it must become our eternal battle to remain free.

The Devastating Reality of the Arizona Forensic Audit. Bernard Kerik – “The Arizona audit is being run impeccably, utilizing security and surveillance procedures with a longstanding track record of effectiveness.” … “They’re not trying to reinvent the wheel; they’re using the same methods casinos have used for decades to catch cheaters.” … “Now that I’ve seen the process for myself, I finally understand why it has the Democrats so hot and bothered.”

NOW WE HAVE PROOF: FBI and DHS Attempted to Recruit Green Beret to Infiltrate Oath Keepers Before Jan. 6 Riot — AND HE RECORDED IT. Jim Hoft – “On Tuesday Revolver News published an important piece on the “unindicted co-conspirators” in the Jan. 6 attack who were never charged by the DOJ or FBI for their part in the violence on Jan. 6.”

Democrats are waging war on conservatives, and January 6 is their chief weapon. Andrea Widburg – “There is something you need to know because it is of overwhelming importance to America’s survival as a constitutional democratic republic: the Biden administration is moving inexorably to making it a crime to oppose Biden and the Democrat party’s policies.” … “federal charging documents against many of those being held for trespassing in Congress reveal that some of the people most active in planning January 6 and encouraging others to act were FBI agents or informants. In other words, it was a set-up.”

“on Tuesday, The Revolver published the results of its review of the charging documents the FBI wrote to justify the hundreds of arrests it carried out following January 6. As you think about these charges, keep in mind, again, that the only serious physical injury occurred when a Capitol police officer shot Ashli Babbitt in cold blood, that we know that the police invited people into the Capitol, and that the Biden administration has refused to prosecute Antifa and BLM activists who grievously destroyed federal property and waged violent war against federal law enforcement:

Banning Critical Race Theory Is A Good Step, But It Doesn’t Go Far Enough. Shannon Whitworth – “The pathology sweeping the United States has already gained a substantial foothold — one that won’t be repulsed by simply creating a law to ban it.”

GMO Prohibition: Many Farmers Want GE Crops So Badly, They’ll Grow Them Illegally. Cameron English – “Breaking the law should always be frowned upon, of course, but these rebellious growers are powerful witnesses to the fact that opposition to crop biotechnology is almost always political—literally, it’s politicians and lobbyists who keep the restrictions in place. Scientific evidence and the interests of farmers are rarely the motivating factors in these cases. Let’s look at a few examples.”

Spewing fog at efforts to clear the air

Who Let Capitol Protesters Into the Building on January 6? Julie Kelly – “By contradicting the groupthink on January 6, Senator Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.) is taking fire from the usual suspects while most of his Senate colleagues remain silent.”

“Judge Amit Mehta thinks no one let protesters into the Capitol building on January 6. … Mehta, of course, is flat wrong. Videos taken by people at the Capitol not only show some U.S. Capitol Police officers ushering protesters toward the building and allowing them to enter but, as American Greatness exclusively reported last month, USCP officers also cautioned several protesters how they should behave.”
In Mehta’s defense, he only has access to cherry-picked video evidence provided by the Justice Department, which is keeping more than 14,000 hours of surveillance footage captured by the USCP security system under seal by insisting the recordings are “highly sensitive” government material. Judges, defense attorneys, and Capitol defendants are at the mercy of whatever damning clips federal prosecutors produce for any given case.

A select group of lawmakers, however, is authorized to view the raw footage

The Tradition of Lamentable Attorneys General Worsens. Roger L. Simon – “What is it about the office of Attorney General of the United States that makes otherwise intelligent occupants of that position behave in unsettling, or worse, manners? … For some years our AG’s have been an instrument of political bias and/or political blunders in a country that supposedly prides itself on the “rule of law.”

Georgia To Investigate After Fulton County Official Says Election Forms Are ‘Missing’. Zachary Stieber [Epoch Times] – “Georgia’s secretary of state said Monday that his office will probe Fulton County after an election official there said forms verifying the chain of custody for some mail-in ballots went missing.”

The Enduring False Narrative About the PULSE Massacre Shows the Power of Media Propaganda. Glenn Greenwald – “Politicians and activists should stop ratifying the fiction that Omar Mateen was motivated by anti-LGBT hatred. It dishonors the victims and obscures the real motive. … The evidence is definitive and conclusive that this is false”

“No matter how noble the intent, journalism — and activism — becomes corrupted if it knowingly supports falsehoods. That the PULSE massacre was an act of anti-LGBT hatred is a fiction. Unless you are a neocon, there is no such thing as a “noble lie.” It is way past time for politicians and activist groups to stop disseminating this one.

A Short History Of The American Medical Association’s Descent Into Leftist Hackery. Julio Gonzalez – “The medical field needs an organization that will advocate for improved physician practices and healthcare delivery, not vogue and misguided social causes.” … “Once again, the AMA put its political standing above the authorization of its members. It has become a leftist organization that repeatedly rejects the desires of its members in pursuit of its own self-serving, protective agenda.”

New Book Claims Texas Heroes Were Cowardly Fools Fighting for Slavery. It’s Wrong. Very Wrong. Bryan Preston – “It’s beneath contempt. … Where is the independent inquiry? Where are the reporters who have covered the Alamo for years, who know that Forget the Alamo is false? … They say you tend to believe the news until it reports on something you know well. Then…you don’t anymore.”

“Fake but Accurate” is the next level of rationalization

Hate Crimes Against Catholics Are Multiplying (But Politicians And Media Don’t Want To Talk About It). Christopher Bedford – “When churches are desecrated, when believers are humiliated, when WaPo came after a local D.C. priest for tending his flock during lockdowns, politicians lick their fingers, put them in the air, and keep quiet.” … “there are real hate crimes that take place in America, and the best way to tell they’re real is that the press isn’t talking about them — or isn’t talking about them honestly.”

“The term “hate crime” gets used too often these days. More often enough than not, if you hear the term “hate crime” you can rightly assume it’s an attention-seeking fraud by the loudest “victim” in the room, be they a student at Harvard or an actor in Hollywood.

Flashback: DC Mayor Honored At DNC For Riot Response. New Reports Reveal She, Not Trump, Teargassed Protesters. Mollie Hemingway – “For more than a year, D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser allowed President Donald Trump to take the blame for what her police forces had done.”

“A Senate report on the policing failures on the day of the riot at the U.S. Capitol specifically cited public pushback against military and federal law enforcement’s role in quelling riots in summer 2020. The Army had previously noted the “considerable scrutiny” it had received for flying medical evacuation helicopters near crowds of protesters.
Another issue that led to policing and security delays and failures, according to the Senate report, was a letter orchestrated by former House Conference Chair Liz Cheney, a Republican congresswoman from Wyoming.
Former Trump aide Stephen Miller wrote, “Now that the IG report has thoroughly debunked the Lafayette Lie, one must ask: how many riots subsequently spiraled out of control elsewhere because local authorities embraced the Left’s Lafayette narrative—and did not deploy the rapid initial force necessary to assert control?”

It’s a sobering but important question to answer about the dangerous propaganda spewed by the corrupt press and other Democrats after billions of dollars in destruction, dozens of killings, a ripping of the fabric of society, and a general breakdown of law and order.

The Media Didn’t ‘Get It Wrong’ On Lafayette Park, They Lied To America — And They’re Still Lying. Christopher Bedford – “On June 1, 2020 and afterward, corporate media didn’t simply get it wrong, they flagrantly and shamelessly lied to Americans in order to hurt the president.”

Watch: Fox Host Wallace Attempts To Shift Blame To Trump Over Wuhan Lab-Leak. Steve Watson [via Summit News] – “During an interview with former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Fox News host Chris Wallace attempted to excuse the inaction of the Biden administration over the Wuhan lab leak by suggesting Trump and Pompeo did nothing for a year.”

‘Touch The Ballots, Go To Jail’: AZ Lawmaker Warns Biden AG As Audit Showdown Brews. Tyler Durden – “An Arizona state Senator has warned US Attorney General Merrick Garland that he’ll ‘spend time in prison’ if he interferes with the 2020 post-election audit, after Garland announced on Friday that the Justice Department will look into whether any federal laws were broken – and claimed the state was employing ‘abnormal’ methods.”

Election Fraud is an Issue that Will Not Go Away. Jeff Lukens – “There are many reasons to doubt the 2020 election results. No question, strange things were happening on Election Night.”

Why It’s Impossible To Teach History Only Using ‘The Facts’. Casey Chalk – “What teachers choose to cover (or not cover) during their limited classroom time will reveal what biases and agendas that educator has on American history.”

“There are at least two problems here. The first is simply that much of the history offered by the 1619 Project and similar critical race theory initiatives is simply wrong. The second is that what teachers choose to cover with their limited time with students will reveal what biases and agendas that educator has related to history.
What is really going on is not replacing error with truth, but foregrounding some data (typically the experience of persons of color or other “marginalized groups”) at the expense of others (typically of many white Americans).

America Has An Existential Civics Education Crisis That More ‘Civics Education’ Will Only Make Worse. Joy Pullmann – “This entire fight is over whether Americans will live under the original Constitution or its bastardized enemy. The civics curriculum battle is key to who will win that war, and the left has the upper hand.”

Fight back against the outrage

Solitary confinement for Jan. 6 riot participants draws criticism from Democratic senators and ACLU. Kerry Picket – “After Jan. 6, Washington, D.C., jail officials decided that all Capitol riot detainees be held in “restrictive housing” as a safety measure for the accused. However, the accused found themselves in solitary confinement 23 hours a day before their trials even started.”

The Depravity of the Democrat Party, the American Left, and the Media. Steve McCann – “For the first time in human history, a nation effectively quarantined the healthy instead of only the sick. For the first time in American history, elected officials on the state and local levels illegally and unilaterally suspended rights guaranteed in the Constitution.” … “It is difficult for the average American to fathom the depth of dishonesty and potential treason of those motivated by self-preservation to keep hidden their incestuous relationships with the Communist Chinese and the part they played in the Chinese development of highly infectious viruses as potential military weapons.”

The Pandemic that Keeps on Giving. Rick Fuentes – “With very rare exceptions now on display in the Senate, congressional Democrats are a mass movement worthy of a few aphorisms from the late, great Eric Hoffer.” … “At no time has the ideological goosestep among the Democrat leadership been more apparent than during the pandemic.”

I’ve Read That… Steve Karp – “Looking back over the past year and a half, the number of conflicting stories about every aspect of the 2019 SARS Coronavirus is staggering.”

“We are in an age of talking past each other. There is no vigorous debate to help us understand what is true, what is false, and what are shadows on the wall. There is something, however, that many of us clearly see, and that’s our society being purposely destroyed before our eyes. If enough people dare to turn around and really look at the past year-and-a-half in America, they too may see it. Even then, though, we still must convince them to believe their own eyes.

More evidence the COVID-19 panic was just that: an unwarranted panic. Robert Zimmerman – “The panicky response to COVID was unwarranted and not based on the actual facts on the ground but on manipulated and unproven assumptions. … too many Americans meekly accepted those assumptions without any of the kind of mature skepticism that is required of adult citizens in a democratic republic. The result: Our rights were violated and false and corrupt politicians gained power, power they eagerly abused.”

My Woke Employees Tried to Cancel Me. Here’s How I Fought Back and Saved My Nonprofit. Grace Daniel – “In order to withstand attacks, you’ll need to be armed with an understanding of the ideas in play, and the courage to stand up to bullies. I hope my story can help give you both.”

A Menckenian hobgoblin.

New York Prosecutors are Screaming at the Sky. Jonathon Moseley – “Did leftists learn nothing from the adventures of Wile E. Coyote forever trying to catch the Roadrunner but always failing? – It is starting to look as if the endless adrenaline high is the real point.”

Beijing’s useful idiots. Ian Birrell – “Only now is acceptance emerging that the science establishment colluded to dismiss the lab leak hypothesis as a conspiracy theory, assisted by prominent experts with clear conflicts of interest, patsy politicians and a pathetic media that mostly failed to do its job. And yet, at the heart of this scandal lie some of the world’s most influential science journals.”

The New Clerisy. Leighton Akira Woodhouse – “Faith in science is an oxymoron.” – “demand the best proof they can offer. You consider their motivations, their ideological biases and their conflicts of interest. You interrogate their advice, and weigh it against that of their critics. You exercise diligence. You ask questions. You trust in evidence, not in people. You think for yourself. – In our drift toward political tribalism, these are skills we are quickly unlearning. Those who call the shots in this country are happy to have it that way.”

The Left’s Religious Faith In False ‘Science’ Echoes Soviet Corruption. Sumantra Maitra – “The worship of elite expertise is the under-analyzed aspect of this sorry saga. Frank’s article is what happens when someone replaces his religion with a new one but fails to recognize the reality of the switcheroo. – Anyone who studied Soviet history knows how a section of intelligentsia and bureaucracy were groomed to justify even the most ridiculous ideological overdrive.”

“Science is not your child to love, or a deity to be worshipped. It is a tool used to discern and discover the truth of things, all while adopting constant skepticism.

Science is not the legacy media shouting loudest about whatever new fashionable opinion they are told to shout, nor is it faith in arch-bureaucrats like Fauci, who will likely face no repercussion for his incompetence and arrogance. The Soviet-lite intelligentsia and leftist media are already falling in line to support one of their own, and the mediocrities will support whatever next fashionable cause the sophisticates declare to be worthy.

The More Alarmists Talk, The More We Know Global Warming Is A Scam. I & I Editorial Board – “A number pulled out of the ether. No (real) science behind it. A benchmark used to do nothing more than frighten the public – a Menckenian hobgoblin.” – “here we are in 2021, the West increasingly captured by a Democrat-media-celebrity cartel that bitterly clings to its science fiction and superstition. We need to wake up before not only is the economy lost but our freedoms, too.”

WCSD: 83% of comments opposed social justice curriculum. Stanton Tang – “the District received 1,436 comments about the proposed curriculum; 57% from WCSD parents, 7% from WCSD staff and 36% from the community. – Of the responses, 83.7% were in opposition and 16.3% expressed support for the plan.”

Fact Check “Mostly False” is about opinion, not fact.

COVID-19 Origins Debate Undermines The Case For Social Media Censorship. Cameron English – “When social media companies take aim at “misinformation,” what they really do is decide who should be allowed to make assertions about the pandemic—who’s credible and who’s not. This, as we’ll see, isn’t necessarily driven by evidence.”

Don’t Believe Leftist Lies About A Federal Judge’s End To California’s Gun Ban. Margot Cleveland – “Judge Roger Benitez’s opinion provides a perfect primer for Americans seeking to understand the law and the gun fallacies leftists push.” … “instead of delving into Benitez’s reasoning, the corrupt media constructed a Swiss strawman to torch, ignoring both the federal judge’s analysis and the many press-peddled urban legends about “assault weapons” Benitez countered.”

The Left’s Deeply Dishonest Response To A Rational Judicial Decision: A Perfect Example Of Emotions Trumping Facts. Sundance – “The insanity of the byzantine “Assault Weapons” laws in the various blue states has to be seen to be believed.” … “one of the important tools in the socialist kit. Find something that, taken out of context, seems odd or discordant. Then hammer the trivial point home, conflating the unimportant with the substantive. – This is what they are best at; obfuscating the real issues and inflating nonsense to ridiculous importance.”

Even If Congress Pretends H.R. 1 Is Constitutional, The Supreme Court Can’t. Nathan Lewin – “If Congress were to enact such a sweeping law – replacing election laws in all states – it would be doomed by a constitutional principle even the most liberal justices have recently endorsed.”

Fact-check: Is renewable energy to blame for the Texas energy shortage in April? Robert Bradley Jr. – “Therein lies an interesting saga of today’s cancel culture and the bob-and-weave of renewable energy proponents to separate the Texas wind/solar boom from the reliability bust.”

Control techniques

COVID, Learned Helplessness, And Control. Tyler Durden [Via] – “In the post-vaccination era, why don’t people remove their masks? Learned helplessness, employed as a control tool.”

“Within moments of COVID’s arrival in the national conscience, officials like California’s Gavin Newsom, and New York’s power bottom twins Andrew Cuomo and Bill De Blasio raced to assume dictatorial emergency powers. …

They were aided in manufacturing learned helplessness by the most sophisticated propaganda operation ever created. Already engorged with the coin of three years of fake news, the legacy media saw the value of a new crisis toward their two real goals: make as much money as possible garnering clicks, and defeating Donald Trump.
Americans are not comfortable accepting their lives being manipulated at this level, the way for example many Russians assume it to be so.
We no longer need to ask what is happening. The real question is always why.

The bizarre British connection behind America’s biggest hoaxes. Andrea Widburg – “It’s becoming increasingly clear that America’s bureaucracies engaged in a cover-up about COVID’s origins. What’s also become clear is the fact that one of the main players in the entire COVID scandal is a British man, Peter Daszak. And I realized something when I thought about Daszak’s involvement: Beginning more than 20 years ago, the British have taken lead roles in three leftist lies that have been used to remake America: Climate change, the Russia hoax and, now, COVID’s development and its subsequent cover-up.”

HOT TAKES: The Left Takes out Its Hatred for the Second Amendment on Judge Benitez. Becca Lower – “This is about more than just one ruling in California and one judge. My colleague Nick Arama wrote about the Senate hearing just over a week ago, in which Texas Sen. Ted Cruz got Biden ATF nominee David Chipman to admit what the Left tries to keep hidden in plain sight: they want to take our guns — no doubt about it.”

Why was Mark Zuckerberg’s ‘even bigger deal’ offer to Fauci redacted from the FOIA emails just released? Thomas Lifson – “All of these redactions are done under code (b) (6), which, according to the Department of Justice, are allowed to prevent “Unwarranted invasions of personal privacy.” – Given the fact that the offer was shared with multiple federal bureaucrats, up to and including those in the White House, how personal and pruvate could the “even bigger deal” offer be?”

Facebook Bans Trump For Two Years. John Hinderaker – “Facebook’s suspension was based on two posts that President Trump did on January 6. Both called for peace.” … “The debate over election integrity continues, but the idea that claims of voter fraud are “unfounded” is ridiculous.” … “So Facebook’s treatment of President Trump needs to be seen in the context of a great deal of corruption and of enormous economic interests that, to your detriment, will be protected by the “Biden administration.”

Huge rally in Michigan for the most unexpected cause. Bill Weckesser – “Methinks the giant has been roused. These are the folks who make the country run — from business owners to workers to retirees, men, women, a vast cross-section of Americans who’ve never before been active in politics. No wonder the leadership of both parties is scared. Who could have imagined such a rally? What political leader would dare invite thousands to pay $20 per person to meet outdoors on a hot June Saturday, at an out-of-the-way location, hundreds of miles from a major city to rally for an audit of an election? – And yet they came.”

Donald Trump: The Great American. Ted Noel – “Congress gives us clear contrasts. Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Mitch McConnell and many others are small characters with outsized power. They all operate for personal benefit rather than serving America.” … “Love him, or hate him, Donald Trump is a great man. He spent his fortune to run, and once elected, he devoted his energies to serving us. Yes, he is a deeply flawed man. But he is a servant, and that is the essence of greatness.”

FUD Mongering and Finding a way through the muck.

How to Beat Internet Censorship and Create Your Own Newsfeed. Brian Shilhavy – “there is a way to bypass email completely, and be able to instantaneously get all the news you want from all of your favorite websites and bypass censorship efforts by using an older technology that still exists today: RSS feeds.” … “By using an RSS Feed Reader, YOU have the freedom to beat censorship by grabbing new articles as they are published without first going through Social Media or email where they can be censored, and you get to develop your own collection of data over time that can be searched.” He also provides his list of feeds but you can find your own from the news web sites you visit most frequently although some haven’t caught on to RSS.

The New Domestic War on Terror Has Already Begun — Even Without the New Laws Biden Wants. Homeland Security just issued its fourth danger bulletin this year. And both the weapons and rhetorical tactics of the first War on Terror are increasingly visible. Glenn Greenwald – “and, thus far, none of the fears it is trying to instill into the American population has materialized.”

“Fear is crucial for state authority. When the population is filled with it, they will acquiesce to virtually any power the government seeks to acquire in the name of keeping them safe. But when fear is lacking, citizens will crave liberty more than control, and that is when they question official claims and actions. When that starts to happen, when the public feels too secure, institutions of authority will reflexively find new ways to ensure they stay engulfed by fear and thus quiescent.

Federal Judge Overturns California’s Ban On Assult Weapons. Tyler Durden – “These are difficult policies and difficult cases. Reasonable people can disagree, including on the meaning of the Second Amendment. What is troubling is the level of misleading and frankly disingenuous discussion of the issue.”

“To Support and Defend The Constitution of the United States”: Micheal Flynn’s Crisis Of Constitutional Faith. Jonathan Turley – “It is certainly positive to see Flynn deny support for a military coup, but the incident is the latest example of our growing addiction to rage — and the loss of our common constitutional faith.” Turley offers only thin gruel for his outrage, illustrates that correcting his perceptions is off the table, and ignores a good referent for his complaint: the collusion of Pentagon generals with the Speaker of the House to overthrow the President earlier in the year.

As The Big Lie About Sicknick Persists, Alleged Attackers Languish In Jail. Julie Kelly [via] – “No one killed Brian Sicknick. But that isn’t stopping the Biden Justice Department, the media, every Democratic politician, and now Sicknick’s loved ones from perpetuating the lie.” … “misleading rhetoric does more than help bolster Democrats’ false narrative about January 6; it has very dangerous consequences”

Confirmed: Jan. 6 Protest Resulted in Estimated $1.5 Million in Damages — Or 1/1000th of Damages by Black Lives Matter-Antifa Protests in 2020. Jim Hoft – “the protests were mostly peaceful and the protesters caused minimal damage until their government fired on with flash grenades, tear gas and rubber bullets without warning.” … “That’s when protesters ran up the stairs and entered the US Capitol — after the doors were opened.”

Schumer’s Confusion. Mark Andrew Dwyer – “Would someone, please, explain to him that cheating on behalf of the oppressed has virtually nothing to do with democracy and that a lack of ability or will to succeed in a merit-based society does not automatically make one an oppressed person?”

The Catholic Response to Homosexuality. Michael Giffin – “The presence of positive elements in homosexual relationships does not make those relationships the legitimate objects of ecclesial blessing” … “The issue of blessing homosexual unions must be reframed: Who is demanding the blessing and why?”

“we are living through a period in which the narratives which once gave meaning to our lives have collapsed. One by one, each grand narrative was refuted, became unpopular, or was difficult to sustain.
Homosexual identity has become one of many battering rams for intersectional politics. Homosexuals are not Magical Elves. Being homosexual is messy. It involves sexual acts that were until recently recognised as hazardous to health. There is no basis, in Scripture or Natural Law, by which the Church can bless practising homosexuals.

Nevertheless, Christians are under extraordinary pressure to accept the normalisation of homosexual behaviour. This is not happening because God is love, or because Jesus took our sins upon himself once for all upon the cross. It is happening because there was a sexual revolution in the 1960s and because the West has discovered cures for sexually transmissible infections. Without that revolution, or those cures, there would be no demand to bless homosexuality, as an affirmation of our collective rejection—as a society—of Scripture and Natural Law.

By any measure, the speed with which homosexuals have gone from being public health risks to being objects of public virtue is extraordinary.
Nevertheless, legal jurisdictions are ruling that the biblical understanding of maleness and femaleness is “incompatible with human dignity”, particularly the dignity of trans persons who do not identify with their biological sex. … What was accepted as true yesterday—by cultural consensus—has today atomised into a confounding array of subjectivities. If the terms “Culture Wars”, “Long March Through the Institutions” and “Cultural Marxism” are overworked, they accurately describe what is happening around us.

One of the more dangerous conceits of our century is the Western belief that we can change the nature and structure of reality by creating and legislating whatever world we desire.

Richard Cobden And The Moral Superiority Of Free Trade. Gary M. Galles – “Richard Cobden knew that free trade was the natural result of self-ownership and voluntary arrangements. It produced justice by preventing government-sponsored robbery. It broke down privilege and barriers hindering economic progress, replacing them with mutually beneficial relations. In a world far from that Cobden’s ideal, we should remember his wisdom that “the emancipation of commerce” increases liberty, progress and peace.” A key often neglected in this topic is that the farther you get from the individual, the more problematic the concept of ‘free trade’ can be. Accountability can be diluted and extrinsic factors can gain undue influence.

Sorry, Virginia, There’s No Math-Equity Claus. Silvio Laccetti – “This plan has been affected by the Utopianism of a confused, narrow-minded and dogmatic age. It seeks to introduce principles of equity in course offerings and teachings.”

County Whitewash, Steve Wolgast – “Like most dysfunctional organizations, the first effort is to address the negative perception rather than the underlying problems. It is “putting lipstick on the pig”. It looks like the goal is to increase “public trust in government” without addressing the pattern of malfeasance. The stated goal is to “increase citizen engagement”. This might take the form of a backlash.” … “In meeting after meeting, year after year, the commissioners have listened to hours of residents’ testimony only to decide against them. They are getting plenty of “engagement”. They are simply not supporting the residents.”

Houseboats Evacuated From California’s Lake Oroville Amid Megadrought. Tyler Durden – “In Northern California’s Butte County, at least 130 houseboats were evacuated from Lake Oroville as water levels fell to dangerously low levels.” Megadrought??

California State Water Board is Manufacturing a Drought by Draining Reservoirs into the Ocean. Katy Grimes – “CA reservoirs were designed to provide a steady five year supply for all users, and were filled to the top in June 2019” … “In the last 14 days, 90% of Delta inflow went to sea. It’s equal to a year’s supply of water for 1 million people. #ManMadeDrought,” Central Valley farmer Kristi Diener said. … Read the full article at California Globe.

COVID-19 Has Forever Destroyed Americans’ Trust In Ruling Class ‘Experts’. Josh Hammer [via The Epoch Times] – “As even many casual observers of America’s fractious politics are aware, the overwhelming majority of lawmaking at the federal level no longer takes place in Congress as the Constitution’s framers intended.”

Drunk with power and blind as a drunk, too

Democrats Want to Destroy Democracy to Save It. Kurt Schlichter – “They adore any narrative that provides them the kind of fake boogeyman – like climate change or systemic racism – that they love to battle. They get to pretend they are courageous knights by slaying toothless dragons, like the Great Insurrection that never seems to come. Never have so many thought themselves so brave for risking so little”

Chuck Grassley Blasts DOJ For Politicized Prosecutions Of U.S. Capitol Rioters After Year Of Violent Riots. Maggie Hroncich – “urging Attorney General Merrick Garland to “treat all forms of domestic extremism equally.”

Our Government Is Evolving into Something Horrifying. K.S. Guardiola – “Today’s Democratic Party, aligned with certain associated power elites, is actively fighting a second American Revolution dedicated to overturning our original one, with the objective of imposing a Marxism-style political order upon our country.”

‘Dark Emu’, the Fix Is In. Peter O’Brien – “it would suggest a decision was made to correct only the most glaring, albeit trivial, error while allowing the rest of Pascoe’s fabrications to stand.” Much like the state of Washington adopting critical race theory to indoctrinate school children …

Never Let a Plague Go To Waste. Victor Davis Hanson – “Most of our familiar reset left-wingers—the Clintons, the Obamas, Gavin Newsom—long ago became multimillionaires by monetizing their political careers through lucrative insider networking.” … “a cynic might conclude they didn’t go full reset until as good capitalists they first got filthy rich—allowing them not to live like, think like—or listen to—the rest of us.”

Looks Like Trump Was Right About Fauci After All. I & I Editorial Board – “Anyone notice that nobody is calling Reschenthaler, or the growing chorus of Fauci critics, “unbelievably idiotic” now?” The TDS contingent tends to use hyperbole in their judgments and opinions about their target. It is a tell. See, for instance, Newsweek: “A specter is haunting America, a great revolt that threatens to dwarf the noxious rebellion led by Trump.” noxious? Rebellion?

The Frenzy Surrounding the Trump-Reinstatement Claim Shows No Lessons Have Been Learned. Bonchie – “My problem here is not so much that someone would report something via anonymous sourcing, but rather that we are going to pretend that this circular game of quoting off-the-record sources actually constitutes a story as having been “confirmed.”

Is Fauci a fall guy? Thomas Lifson – “Sundance of The Last Refuge[i] looks into something that also puzzled me: why were multiple FOIA requests for the emails of Dr. Anthony Fauci all released at the same time, and why now?”

‘Woke’ medicine is coming to a hospital near you. Andrea Widburg – “Woke people, drunk with power and the urge to avenge wrongs that predate their births, quickly form mobs that surround and destroy anyone who offends them. The only way to end them is to out-mob them – and every American institution had better act quickly or soon America will look like China at the height of its bloody Cultural Revolution.”

Bulveristic. Riveted on the backs of the American people.

Guilt for January 6 Belongs With Those Most Eager to Condemn It. Conrad Black — “George Will, Peggy Noonan, and other estimable friends bear a heavy responsibility in the disaster that has now been riveted on the backs of the American people and the world.” … “Those who generally approved of Trump’s policies but couldn’t bear him now have to wear the odium of having helped elect Biden, as well as the cold terror that Trump will be back.” … “Smashing hijacked civilian airliners into large and famous buildings is a more egregious and sanguinary act of war than was the attack on Pearl Harbor—or the events of January 6.”

COVID and the lab leak theory: the correction of the correction of the correction of the… neo — “The MSM is regularly mendacious in a way that’s sly enough that if you’re not reading carefully you might miss it. That’s the goal, of course – to make readers miss it – and it’s been remarkably successful so far.”

Fauci Emails Show NIH/NIAID Director Had No Checks or Balances on His Power Grab Over Our Nation, Fueled By Media Worship and Idolatry. Sundance — “The man making decisions that would disrupt and perhaps destroy the lives of every single American tells the scientist sounding the alarm about China his explanation is too long to read.”

How The Media’s COVID Lies Weaken America. Christopher Bedford — “What happens when the next big disease rolls around? And what if it’s one that’s actually as deadly as people thought COVID might be? Who can people trust?” … “It was darkly funny at first how neither corporate media nor their Democrat friends could agree with a single thing President Donald Trump said, no matter how plausible — or even obvious — it was.”

“In the eyes of our reporting class, every single thing President Trump said — or did — had to be wrong. It started out entertaining and predictable, but could also be troubling, depressing, and enraging, as when reporters played blind to murderous race riots, claiming they were entirely peaceful, or when they refused to admit that the border is a human-smuggling and human-victimizing operation entirely run by foreign criminal cartels. That kind of reporting hurts people badly, and does no service to the causes these reporters hope to champion.

But when COVID-19 came to our shores, their obsession with taking the opposite side of President Donald Trump became very dangerous to our entire country — and is the final crack in their long-fracturing and now-collapsed role as a check on good governance.

If You Don’t Think Mask Rules Threaten Freedom, Watch This Grandma Arrested For Not Masking. Max Ledoux — “’When you say, ‘Just wear the mask,’ you clearly have no understanding of early childhood development,’ Kate Bossi told CBS Boston after her arrest.”

When Will Elites in Democrat Cities Finally Put Down The Mask? Gabe Kaminsky — “To those residing in metropolitan riot-torn areas, a plastic blue covering with earloops has cemented itself as a symbol of political virtue.” … “Now, look at scientific data. Are they sane?” … “the left is discontent and cannot let go of the pandemic. They crave it.” … “the woke pandemic mob is only pledging allegiance to foolish symbolic representation. It shows clear mental disorder.”

Keep the Cash, Give Us Answers. Roger Franklin — “plunged into a state of livid distraction by the clown-show stars of Victoria’s ongoing COVID circus. They’ve been lying again, doling out the whoppers and ‘look, over there!’ distractions all week”

Stop Waving Away Critical Race Theory Critiques With Claims They’re Solely Based On Fear. Casey Chalk — “The arguments made by conservatives skeptical of critical race theory need to be addressed and met on their actual merits.”

“The Washington Post’s Christine Emba claims conservative opposition to critical race theory has less to do with intellectual concerns and more to do with emotivism and fear. She accuses conservatives of “disguising” their “discomfort with racial reconsideration as an intellectual critique,” asserting conservative skepticism of critical race theory reflects a “psychological defense, not a rational one.” The irony, however, is that Emba’s argument relies on a textbook logical fallacy.

That fallacy is the ad hominem, and more specifically “bulverism,” a term coined by C.S. Lewis. … it’s a speculative examination of the psychological condition of one’s intellectual sparring partner, rather than a rational consideration of his or her actual position.

Five Ways Ayn Rand’s 1957 Novel Predicted Our Present Condition. Adam Mill — “Rand’s vision had flaws. But history has vindicated her dire warnings about politicized corporate-government partnerships oppressing freedom.” … “Central planning of an economy always leads to corruption, inefficiency, and oppression. The historical examples are abundant and consistent”

Our Garbage Media Strikes Again. Steven Hayward — “CBS News is out today with a story about those cruel, heartless Republican governors who are cutting off the supplemental unemployment benefits … This story follows a familiar template: find some sympathetic individual who is adversely effected by the decision”

For The Children, Times Style. Scott Johnson — “It’s a one-sided article that obscured whether Hamas was an information source, which deaths were caused by ‘friendly fire,’ and why Israel used force at all.”

Bowser’s DC Metro Police, Not Trump, Deployed Tear Gas Against Rioters Near White House Last June. Margot Cleveland — “a lawsuit brought by Black Lives Matter and individual demonstrators.” They were after Trump but the MPD was their real problem.

“The MPD’s admission explains the divide between on-the-ground reporting of the use of tear gas and denials by the federal government of the use of tear gas to clear Lafayette Park: The evidence to date supports the federal government’s claims that it did not deploy CS tear gas on June 1, 2021, and that CS tear gas was not used to clear Lafayette Park. Traditionally, the media have delineated between pepper spray, regularly carried by civilians, often women, to protect themselves from potential predators. and tear gas, although some claim that pepper spray is tear gas.

Questions remain, however, concerning why it took a year for the district to reveal its use of tear gas, especially in light of the conflicting reporting, and the attempts to hold the Trump administration responsible for the decision.

Trump Taps Newt Gingrich to Come Up With a New Spin on an Old Idea That Worked. Stacey Lennox — “the author of the Contract with America, a document that gave congressional Republicans and candidates the message discipline to make their case to the American people.”

Optimism, Inc.: The Exhilaration of Being Ostracized. Victor Davis Hanson — “has at least one of the following things happened to you?” …

Redefining The Core Mission Of Public Health. Susan Goldhaber — “A recent survey found that fewer than 40% of Americans trust their federal public health agencies. Could “mission creep” into issues such as climate change, gun violence, and racism rather than a focus on traditional public health issues be a cause? Did mission creep impact our response to the COVID-19 pandemic?”
