Foolish prayers and off the rails

Congress’s Foolish Opening Prayer Exposes A Deeper Problem For Christianity — And The West. Christopher Bedford – “The prayer’s true scandal was largely ignored — and is indicative of a widespread societal shift toward a serious and dangerous misunderstanding of both Christianity and tolerance.”

““Tolerance is… a forbearance that restrains us from showing anger or inflicting punishment,” the Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen, a great and famous American preacher, wrote in 1931. “Tolerance applies only to persons … never to truth. Tolerance applies to the erring, intolerance to the error … Architects are as intolerant about sand as foundations for skyscrapers as doctors are intolerant about germs in the laboratory. Tolerance does not apply to truth or principles. About these things we must be intolerant, and for this kind of intolerance, so much needed to rouse us from sentimental gush, I make a plea. Intolerance of this kind is the foundation of all stability.”
…
This understanding of tolerance also informs our justice, and is why we once punished criminal actions instead of thoughts, without for a moment condoning wicked and evil thinking. And this understanding of tolerance informs our equality, and is why we only recently strove to care for our vulnerable without regard to their race and regardless of the real or imagined crimes of their ancestors.
…
Every single one of these foundations of Western civil society is rooted in our Founders’ and our people’s Christian religion and heritage, and every single one of them is under vicious attack.

Put it this way. Neo – “I can sum up the speed of the changes this way: twelve scant years ago in 2008, Obama felt he had to distance himself from Reverend Wright in order to win. This year, a Reverend Wright clone has been elected to the Senate from the previously-red state of Georgia. What was once unacceptably radical has been nearly mainstreamed.”

The war on standards, West Point cheating edition. Paul Mirengoff – “Why is West Point being so lenient? Why is it departing from its past practice of booting cheaters?”

Rod Dreher Names the Enemy. Timothy Cootes – “There is the assumed virtue of those who claim to be poor victims; … One also notices the misuse of language.”

“Keep in mind, though, that new and perhaps contradictory truths may be introduced tomorrow, and you’ll have to believe those ones, too. If you show any reluctance, the commissars of cancel culture will either get you into line, or destroy you. Although there won’t be gulags or firing squads this time around, it’s clear that we aren’t exactly up against a few campus snowflakes anymore.

How The 2020 Election Could Have Been Stolen. Claes G. Ryn – “I have tried to do due diligence to assess what happened in the recent election. … This memorandum is not written to persuade. It merely records my findings and reflections.”

After 2020 election – here’s how to keep track of upside-down world of media and politics. Victor Davis Hanson – “After Nov. 3, the meaning of some words and concepts abruptly changed. Have you noticed how new realities have replaced old ones? … To keep track of our brave new American world is easy”

Some Hard Truths We Face as Patriotic Americans as We Near January 6th. Dex Bahr – “Americans have absorbed the truth that the institutions long depended upon for redress are compromised. For years we had always suspected this, but in the aftermath of the 2020 presidential election this has been confirmed with much dismay and sadness.”

An Administration Of Plagiarists: What This Means For The Country. I & I Editorial Board – “Because they are without inspiration, Biden and his team, in which Harris is an ambitious though empty lieutenant, fall back on ideas from Karl Marx, Margaret Sanger, the Marxist Black Lives Matter leadership, and an assortment of statist and collectivist thinkers who have produced only misery for others.”

Evidence China Was Colluding with the Bidens and Providing Information on How to Defeat President Trump in the 2020 Election. Joe Hoft – “Yaacov Apelbaum at the Illustrated Primer today provides some more shocking findings hidden on Hunter’s laptop.”

GA’s SoS Raffensperger Gave Hackers Roadmap To Infiltrate Machines A Year Before Election. George Eliason – “This link is to the redacted GA Master Technical Evaluation. Although redacted, the report left every route needed to hack and control each technical component Dominion uses as well as adding an actual vulnerability to get hackers started.”

Trump’s ‘Operation Vote’: Glimmers of the key supporting effort, and the larger strategic context. J.E. Dyer – “hat doesn’t mean the Trump administration was going by anything the analysts who put together the Creative Destruction article said. It means there was an actionable reality of impending foreign interference, which we the public see in hindsight through the Creative Destruction piece, but which the Trump administration could have seen through the means of national intelligence – at the time it was happening.”

The vanishing vote problem may have struck again in Georgia. Andrea Widburg – “it’s a strong (very strong) indicator of fraud when votes suddenly vanish from a candidate’s tally.”

Why An Electoral College Challenge Is Imperative. David Catron – “The state legislatures, courts, and the media shamelessly shirked their duty.”

Republican Lawmakers Objecting To Biden Electors Have A Point: Americans Need To Trust Elections. John Daniel Davidson – “The best way to secure public trust in the outcomes of our elections is to ensure that our elections are trustworthy. Right now, they’re not.”

If Congress Was Genuinely Interested In Democracy, They Would Welcome An Election Commission. Authored by Tho Bishop via The Mises Institute – “the behavior of various institutions of power is one of growing unease.”

D.C. Mayor Wanted National Guard Out When BLM Was Burning City, Now Wants It Back Over Election Protests. Daniel Greenfield – “There are civil rights laws about the use of force in such a politically selective way.”

The Left Claims Another Victim. John Hinderaker – “The Left mounted a vicious campaign against Cleta, her law firm and her firm’s clients, not accusing her of any wrongdoing other than having the temerity to give legal advice to the President of the United States.” Hinderaker went off the rails on Trump in another post on Powerline based on ignorance of pre-election actions to prevent the election fiasco. This is sad to see.

What Can Be Done in This Age of Election Fraud? Whom Can We Count On? Donald N. Finley – “when a state certifies as true and accurate the vote totals known not to be true and accurate but refuses to acknowledge the inaccuracy, who fixes that wrong?” … “The arrogance of it all should offend every patriotic and honest American.”

Margot Cleveland’s Moving Tweet, Plus … mark wauck – “in what it says about our country, our courts, our public office holders, and yes, our citizens:”

The final check against abuses is not the system, but the people it’s accountable to.

The Judiciary vs. the Leftist Mob. Daniel Greenfield – “Patriots won’t bend to the mob — even if the judges do.” … “ Over two centuries ago, Alexander Hamilton pointed out that due to the “natural feebleness of the judiciary”, it’s “in continual jeopardy of being overpowered, awed, or influenced.” … Jeopardy long ago became reality. Now our nation’s future is in jeopardy.” … “The final check against abuses is not the system, but the people it’s accountable to.”

We Were Laughed Out of Court because the Courts Have Become Ridiculous. Robert Oscar Lopez – “This argument is authoritarian in its reasoning. It defers to a juridical priesthood and allows one guild, the attorneys, to override what average people can see in front of them.”

A CRISIS OF PERSPECTIVE: Pundits in Denial are Cratering Their Creditability. Richard Bledsoe – “We are supposed to roll over and accept an illegitimate election that will be an extinction level event for our Constitutional Republic. A complete capitulation to a cabal of our enemies foreign and domestic.”

Archbishop Viganò’s Exhortation To Americans. Mark Wauck – “transcript of Viganò’s interview with Steve Bannon. It’s an eloquent and timely discussion:”

My reaction #2 to the Trump-Raffensperger phone call. Neo – “When I found and read a transcript here, it came as no surprise that Trump’s call with Raffensperger had been mischaracterized by the MSM as nefarious, when the actual call versus MSM discussion of the call seems to have been much as shipwreckedrew describes it here: “a case study in the media duplicity that President Trump has battled from day one.” My reaction #1 to the Trump-Raffensperger phone call – “one thing I will not miss are these leaked “gotcha” phone calls, whereby the MSM declares him finished, criminal, and/or hopelessly corrupt, and then once any objective person has a chance to actually listen to the call or read the transcript it becomes clear that this is a mischaracterization of what Trump actually said.”

Gaslighting Goes On Despite New Voting Irregularities. Kim Hirsch – “the media continue their gaslighting of the America public. Like the Washington Post, which “debunked” all of Trump’s claims of voter fraud. Was Dominion software compromised? No, says the WaPo. Did the federal government find any evidence of voter fraud? Once again, the WaPo says no.” … “If you believe the election results stink to high heaven, you’re not crazy. Nor are you a Trump cultist.”

The 2020 Insurrection. Peggy Ryan – “They even announced their intention to steal the White House long before the election.”

“When the president’s team calls out the fraud, Democrats cry foul and demand proof. Trump’s team obliges, provides thousands of sworn statements attesting to the fraud; a video of a woman pulling out boxes of ballots from under a table; truck-drivers’ testimony that they transported batches of ballots across state lines; election workers who were instructed to backdate ballots; and much more, enough to overturn Biden’s win in all five states. Yet nothing happens. The evidence is ignored. Our supposed honorable judges deny election challenges in case after case, refuse to even look at the evidence.

An Insider’s View of Pennsylvania and the Battle for Our Republic, Frank Ryan and Dawn Keefer – “The Department of State’s response and rebuttal were swift and condescending.” … “Unfortunately, the courts have yet to address any of the process control concerns we have presented.”

Defenders of Civilization, Tell The Truth Until It Hurts

Devin Nunes Tells The Truth Until It Hurts. Mollie Hemingway – “The more Rep. Devin Nunes was attacked, the more he wanted to understand what was behind the Russia collusion narrative. His opponents couldn’t have been more wrong in how to contain him.”

Ignoring And Ridiculing Election Fraud Concerns Will Not Make Them Go Away. Stella Morabito – “If nothing else, conservatives must all be on board with addressing the disastrous crisis of trust this election has produced.” … “The more invested Big Media and Big Tech are in driving their preferred narratives into our brains, the more reason we have to distrust them. Their immediate labeling as “disputed” of any fraud reporting feels like they doth protest too much.”

“So the more vexing question—and the rude awakening—is this: Why do so many self-identified conservatives play along with a media machine that is already 95 percent in the Democrats’ corner? The list is long, and includes many big-name Republican officials who have taken a particularly hostile stance against any real investigation into voter fraud
…
In short, why are they so willing to accept abnormalities as normal?

Why Those Who Claim To ‘Follow The Science’ Are More Likely To Ignore It. Benedict Beckeld – “We’ll be able to have more productive and honest conversations with one another the sooner we realize that while morality takes sides, science does not.”

Defenders of Civilization? Victor Davis Hanson – “Our grandees seem too exhausted, too guilty, or too ignorant to pass on and improve the civilization they inherited for others to come.” … “What happens if an elderly so-called white person dies of COVID-19, when a state medical policy ignores science and substitutes racial preference instead?”

“For now we wait for one local PTA member to refuse to change the name of his Lincoln school, or a crusading prosecutor who issues 40 federal racketeering indictments the next time Antifa drives in to town to take over a house, torch a courthouse, or reclaim a street, or a judge who sentences a violent arsonist to a 20-year sentence pour encourager les autres, or an exasperated college dean who will say no to segregating dorms or no-go zones by race, or one honest journalist who finally presses Joe Biden to answer what have Hunter and his family done.

The media are lying about Trump’s phone call with Raffensperger. Andrea Widburg – “Trump sought to avoid litigation forcing Raffensperger to do his job, which is to make at least a minimal effort to clear away enough fraud to allow Trump his actual and honest victory in Georgia.”

“Here are just two examples of the media’s dishonest claim that Trump was trying to force Raffensperger to commit fraud. As you can see, their premise is that there is no evidence of fraud, so any action on Trump’s part to claim victory is itself fraud. Theirs is a deliberate example of circular logic, where their premise and conclusion are the same thing.
…
Trump hammered over and over that he won the state. No matter how you look at it, he said he won, and he’s got the evidence to prove it.
…
Did you get that? The biggest election fraud claim in American history, the president on the phone, massive amounts of evidence, and Raffensperger whines that he’s already given up six and a half hours of his time to the issue.

Raffensperberger on line 2. Scott Johnson – “I want to add a few comments to draw out facets of the phone call that have been shortchanged — i.e., suppressed — by the mainstream media.” … “The fact that the call was secretly recorded is scurrilous.”

‘BIGGEST spin job ever’: Leaked Trump call is media hype, related to lawsuits against Raffensperger. Tom Tillison – “David Shafer, the chairman of the Georgia Republican Party, announced in a tweet that Trump has filed two lawsuits – federal and state – against Raffensperger after he secretly recorded the “confidential settlement discussion” of that pending litigation.” … “What’s not getting much notice is that there were attorneys from both sides on the call.”

Misguided Laments

Corporate Media’s Obsession With Fact-Checking Is A Mission To Monopolize The Truth. Tristan Justice – “In July, USA Today issued a “fact-check” that promoted a left-wing conspiracy theory asserting the Donald Trump campaign’s use of an eagle on memorabilia featured imagery of Nazi Germany.”

“The episode is emblematic of just about everything wrong about legacy media: its Trump Derangement Syndrome, its compulsive desire to smear Trump and his supporters as Nazi collaborators, its unaccountability. It also illustrates the dangers of a corporate media complex obsessed about fact-checking to cement a monopoly on truth, when many of its “fact-checks” aren’t truthful at all.
…
A world where leftist elites run the nation’s legacy institutions is no pretty picture. It’s a world where critical race theory is the mandated religion, Trump is a covert agent of the Russian government, Joe Biden sees no legitimate scrutiny, there is no accountability for American corporate giants dismissing their U.S. loyalty to appease Chinese interests, and any skepticism that could undermine pandemic lockdown measures is suppressed into oblivion.

“A Criminal Like Trump”: Federal Judge Exposes Bias In Public Interview. Jonathan Turley – “Judge Pratt gave an interview slamming the pardons in a departure from judicial ethics rules barring jurists from engaging in such political commentary.”

“Call it another example of Trumpunity in our age of rage and hypocrisy. Legal ethicists and experts stretched ethical rules to the breaking point to support actions against Republican lawyers for filing election challenges. Yet, they are again conspicuously silent on these controversy. Indeed, many Democrats recently denounced public comments by Justice Samuel Alito but have no criticism of Pratt or liberal jurists like the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in far more serious public comments.

What Pratt said publicly was wrong. It undermines not just his credibility but that of his court and his other colleagues.

Mitt Romney’s Misguided Lament. David Limbaugh – “When hatred of Trump blinds you in your every step.”

Dems Call Hawley’s Election Concerns ‘Coup Attempt’ After Objecting To Every GOP Certification This Century. Jordan Davidson – the hyperbole, speculation, and sliming all underscore the hypocrisy.

Laxalt files new lawsuit challenging Nevada’s alleged inability to keep noncitizens off of voter rolls. Riley Snyder – “stems from President Trump’s repeated and unsubstantiated claims of mass voter fraud in the 2020 election.” unsubstantiated? And you expect to be taken as sticking to the facts? Citing the culprits denial as fact and ignoring the credibility or even existence of evidence in the complaint is gross negligence and an expression of blatant bias.
