Intellectual integrity?

The Three Biggest Lies Of The Trump Era. J. Frank Bullitt – “Lying has always been a part of politics. But what we’re seeing today is extreme.”

“Politicians’ falsehoods, eagerly parroted by celebrities, are aided by a media that, rather than acting as an impartial referee, has become an agency for Democrats and the political left. Here are the top three whoppers since President Trump took office that those sick with Trump Derangement Syndrome just won’t let go of.

It’s galling that the Trump haters — would it be fair to say every Hillary Clinton supporter is a Trump hater? — have been free to continually spew these lies in the mainstream and social media. They’ve repeated the lies so many times that they have come to be regarded as the truth.

Real truth, though, is not malleable and those who claim to honor it, whether they like Trump or not, should stand up for it at all times. Trump’s antagonists are free to criticize him, free to point out when he’s not telling the truth, free even to consider his supporters idiots, if that’s what they believe.

But this isn’t about Trump, nor his supporters. It’s about influential figures perpetuating big lies and getting away with it. They ought to be called out until they finally stop.

When the MSM Say Someone Is in Prison for a Minor Drug Crime, They’re Always Lying. Ann Coulter – “If the left has its way in the next few years, there won’t be anyone left in prison because, you see, they’re overflowing with innocent black men locked up for “nonviolent drug crimes.” All of them!

“Having completely lied about these crimes – deliberately withholding this information is lying — NBC then brought out Sen. Cory Booker as the lonely voice of sanity in the Kafka-esque nightmare that is Underwood’s life.

Impeachment vote a warning — to Trump and Pelosi. Byron York – “The vote, in other words, showed that 95 Democrats will vote to impeach the president for anything. For them, there is no need to accuse Trump of a high crime or misdemeanor involving Russia, or obstruction of justice, or campaign finance violations, or any other arguably impeachable activity. Accusing the president of being “unfit” for office is enough.

influential figures perpetuating big lies and getting away with it” why is this?

Perceptions tied to fantasy and not reality miss important landmarks

Vote on Trump’s ‘racist’ tweets split Nevada delegation on party lines. Humberto Sanchez – “There’s no question that it’s racist,” Titus said of the tweet off the floor during the procedural vote.” The problem is that there is nothing in the tweet about race. It is about behavior. The fact that the Democrats are engaged in pushing such a gross distortion that anyone can see for themselves is troubling as is the solid partisan block that is engaged as is the hyperbole and stridency in pushing a falsehood. The Democrats also make it clear that enforcing existing law, at least by the current administration, is considered de facto racist. It gets worse.

Pelosi’s headache comes to life: Green files articles of impeachment; Update: Vote today by 5 ET? Update: GOP to side with … Green? Ed Morrissey – “Rep. Al Green (D-TX) filed articles of impeachment last night, citing Trump’s tweets about four frosh Democrats as a “high misdemeanor.”

“Pelosi must have hoped that last night’s rebuke of Trump by House resolution would suffice and keep impeachment fever tamped down for a little longer. Instead, her own missteps might have made matters worse. As Allahpundit wrote last night, Pelosi tripped up over the House rules and ended up with egg on her face when the parliamentarian ruled her out of order and momentarily suspended her speaking privileges. She then asked two members of the Congressional Black Caucus to serve in the chair to announce that the House couldn’t accuse Trump of racism, a move that spectacularly backfired when both refused. Pelosi managed to bull her way forward through brute majority votes to ignore the rules, but she made herself look foolish and incompetent along the way.

List of Racist Statements by Members of the ‘Squad’ (So Far). Alex Wroblewski – “President Donald Trump tweeted Tuesday that “I don’t have a Racist bone in my body!” and challenged his critics to “Get a list of the HORRIBLE things” that the four Democratic congresswomen of the so-called “Squad” have said.” … but, obviously, reality doesn’t matter to the Left. One way to establish reference and context for evaluation of opinion and judgment is to compare and contrast to other samples.

Democrats Are One Hundred Percent Wrong about Racism. Roger L. Simon – “To say that the Democrats are obsessed with race these days is the equivalent of saying the sky is blue.” … “And now we are where we are—in the land of AOC and Omar—every one of us racists until we die. The revolution eats its own.”

Barack Obama On Illegal Migrants Coming To America: “SEND THEM BACK.” John Cardillo – “How odd to see Democrats do a complete 180 regarding the crisis at the southern border.”

Trump took out the Odd Squad. Don Surber – “He pinned the Odd Squad as unpatriotic. At their press conference, they showed it.

Is Trump playing 3-D chess or not? neo – “when the dust settles (and sometimes it settles rather quickly), we usually find that one or some or all of the following have occurred: Trump didn’t actually say what they said he said, his opponents do something in response to what he said that makes them look like the fools, the public in general responds by agreeing with Trump and his polls go up (sometimes after a bit of a dip).

Latest political jiu-jitsu

Trump gets truly brutal: Forces Nancy Pelosi to defend the very leftists trying to oust her. Monica Showalter – “At first glance, it looked like maybe a blunder, some political overplaying of the hand, the Sunday move by President Trump that could finally make the internally warring Democrats circle their fractious wagons and unite. It certainly was politically risky.” John Hinderacker certainly thought so. Glen Reynolds thought otherwise. As is usual with the President’s tweets, a bit of patience in bomb damage assessment is a very good idea.

“He made a series of outrageous tweets called on Pelosi’s own “squad” to go back to the countries they came from.

There was the kind of stuff Democrats live to react to — starting with its careless elements, which he probably wanted to be careless, in order to get them to spend their time hollering about a nothingburger. Only one of the “squad” members Trump cited actually comes from another country, Somalia, so it wasn’t really an accurate statement except in Rep. Ilhan Omar’s case.

But it didn’t matter: he managed to get them and their press allies spending their yelling on that.

Second, he took on the politically correct idea that in polite society, one is never supposed to tell a foreigner to go back where he came from. He tramped on that, too.

Trump’s tweets did have an electoral politics nexus — plenty of working-class people sought by Democrats for votes speak and think this way, and these tweets and the Democrats’ outraged responses put them all on record for the voters.

But more important, his measure was aimed at Pelosi herself, forcing her to defend the very people who up until now have been trying to politically kill her.

That’s hardball. Trump knows what he is doing, very well, creating chaos on a prissily creepy power structure built on political correctness.

‘Justice on Trial’ Is The Definitive Account Of Brett Kavanaugh’s Confirmation. Nathanael Blake – “We should share this righteous anger. Democrats are so desperate to preserve their illegitimate judicial victories that they are trying to destroy the lives and reputations of good men and women. We must resist such political wickedness.”

“There is room for genuine and principled disagreement over the meanings of laws and of the Constitution. What is antithetical to our Constitution, and deeply harmful to our nation, is the belief that judicial power is a political weapon to be exploited for maximum advantage. Using the Supreme Court as the “nuclear bomb of political warfare” exchanges the rule of law for despotism in the hope that the latter will be enlightened. It rarely is.

Justice is always on trial but more like a “Martial art focusing on grappling and ground fighting (wikipedia)” in the political arena.

Many exercises in magical thinking

Trump Adheres To The Law On Immigration, Shocking Lawless Democrats. Peter J. Ferrara – “The plan to deport about one million illegal aliens announced by Acting United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) Director Ken Cuccinelli is not a matter of discretion. Cuccinelli is just following the law, and already issued court orders.” No matter, another essay on the site details how the issue is being used to gen up partisan impeachment froth.

“Those subject to deportation under the plan have already had their cases adjudicated in the United States, with immigration judges ruling they have lost their cases, and ordering them deported. Cuccinelli is just the first federal official, besides President Trump, brave enough to follow and implement the law.

The Democrat’s continuing illegal resistance should not be surprising, because these same Democrats have refused to abide by the rule of law with the choice of American citizens to elect Donald Trump in 2016. Instead, they have engaged in what they call Resistance, which is actually an outright Insurrection.

Remember what Democrats did the last time they refused to accept the results of a democratic election. They started a Civil War, rebelling against the first Republican President, Abraham Lincoln, because he wanted to end slavery.

Pelosi Rejects U.S. Sovereignty – U.S. Immigration Subject to Laws of “A Global Society”… sundance – “While explaining why she will not allow congress to debate, change or modify U.S. immigration laws, Pelosi outlines how the United States is part of a global society, without borders and without any sovereign right to impede the “human society” from entering our nation. Therefore, according to her outlook and worldview, U.S. politicians have no right to stop any migration movement.

“Keep this in mind as we approach the 2020 election. The Speaker of the House is essentially saying, openly, publicly and without any reservation or concern, the United States of America is no longer a sovereign nation.

Pelosi vs. AOC: It’s a Beautiful Thing. David Limbaugh – “everything about modern leftist ideology is extreme. It is extreme in substance, and its practitioners are self-absorbed, sanctimonious, uncompromising and often irrational.

“Nancy, and so many progressives, use racial smears against conservatives to neuter them — not because they believe they’re racists. They know better. It’s simply a cynical power play, and it always has been.

While it is delicious to see this tactic thrown back in Pelosi’s laughing face by one with stronger intersectionality credentials, let us not allow ourselves the luxury of sanguinity over this blissful moment. In the long run, it won’t matter much in the scheme of things.

Don’t be fooled. This is not really a battle over ideology. Nancy Pelosi and the establishment wing of the Democratic Party are not — let me repeat, they are not — moderates. These people all embrace varying degrees of an extreme progressive agenda including radical environmentalism; socialized medicine; socialism writ large, evisceration of gun rights; abortion on demand; health care and welfare for illegal immigrants; open borders; confiscatory personal- and corporate-income tax hikes; softness on Iran and terrorism; leftist judicial activism; wholesale end runs around the Constitution to secure their power, such as abolishing the Electoral College and allowing 16-year-olds and felons to vote; and so much more.

Transcript of President Trump and AG Bill Barr Citizenship and Census Announcement… sundance – “Rather than listen to media pundits explain what President Trump and AG Bill Barr said today at the White House, here’s the transcript:” Fairly short, well worth reading to see what is actually happening, the barriers being faced in conducting proper government business, the complicity of the courts, the President’s abilities to find alternative solutions, and how the President’s opposition is stimulating government behavior his opponents say they abhor but engage in themselves (except in a legal way).

Why Wind And Solar Will Never Work. John Hinderaker – “This paper by Mark Mills of the the Manhattan Institute and Northwestern University’s McCormick School of Engineering and Applied Science, titled “The ‘New Energy Economy’: An Exercise in Magical Thinking,” does an excellent job of explaining why wind and solar energy will never replace fossil fuels or nuclear energy as a primary energy source.”

Bombshell Claim: Scientists Find “Man-made Climate Change Doesn’t Exist In Practice” Tyler Durden – “A new scientific study could bust wide open deeply flawed fundamental assumptions underlying controversial climate legislation and initiatives such as the Green New Deal, namely, the degree to which ‘climate change’ is driven by natural phenomena vs. man-made issues measured as carbon footprint.” See also Lubos Motl on this paper.

We didn’t do it for the money

Fact-Check: Nevada’s Rep. Susie Lee Fearmongers Over Yucca Mountain. Alex Berezow – “While her counterargument is at least civil, it spreads disinformation about geology and public health.” When the children get dragged into an argument like this, Godwin’s rule of Hitler analogies comes to mind.

“An absolutely excellent, must-read article by physicist Dr. Richard Muller explains the science behind nuclear waste disposal. We routinely say that nuclear waste needs to be secure for about 10,000 years. That’s because, by then, most of the radioactivity has decayed away. But in reality, after merely 300 years, the level of radioactivity has declined by roughly 90%. So, the question isn’t, “Can we guarantee that Yucca is eternally secure forever and ever amen?” but “Can we ensure that Yucca is safe for about 300 years?” And that answer is yes.

Dr. Muller really slams the door shut by comparing the risk posed by a leak at Yucca Mountain to the risk posed by uranium found naturally in the soil: …

The science is utterly conclusive: Yucca Mountain is not a threat to Nevadans’ health. Grandstanding and fearmongering by politicians is why America has a completely backward energy policy.

Why Do Democrats Hate Jobs So Much? I & I Editorial Board – “The economic case against the minimum wage is robust. But the freedom argument is just as strong. It’s a shame we don’t hear it more in the only nation that was ever founded in the cause of liberty.

Trump Right Again – More Puerto Rican Government Officials Indicted for Corruption, Wire Fraud, Money Laundering and Conspiracy… sundance – “This is the widespread corruption President Trump previously drew attention to. This overt and in-the-open corruption is why Nancy Pelosi took the entire Democrat caucus to Puerto Rico in January for a vacation with her favorite lobbyists.”

Barr Is Right: The Trump-Russia Conspiracy Is ‘Bogus,’ And Mueller Proved It. David Harsanyi – “Suddenly, investigations are bad.”

“The bogus Russia narrative, after all, caused tremendous damage. It consumed political media coverage for two years, leading to wild speculation and a string of outright false stories designed to undermined trust in the legitimacy of the electoral system for partisan reasons.

It was far more effective in interfering in American politics than anything a Russian Twitter army or hackers could ever accomplish. Simply because Democrats have now moved onto more politically useful obstruction charges doesn’t mean we don’t deserve an explanation about how a counterintelligence investigation against political opponents could make all of this happen.

Carlson versus Omar. Scott Johnson – Quotable quote: “Our country rescued Ilhan Omar from the single poorest place on Earth. We didn’t do it for the money, we did it because we are kind people. How did she respond to the remarkable gift we gave her? She scolded us, called us names, showered us with contempt.”

perverse detachment from logic writ large

The Case For Mandatory Vaccination And Mental Health Treatment. Alex Berezow – “Occasionally, however, our guiding principles encounter intractable problems. Two of the biggest such problems today involve public health: Vaccination and mental health treatment.” The key here is the same one that taints the ‘discussion’ about tariffs: “free markets and the notion of individual liberty are predicated upon the belief that humans are rational and responsible.” This predicate makes models simpler but ignores human nature. The vehemence of the strongest advocates for socialism is also a tell in this direction.

“This policy may be met with even more resistance than mandatory vaccinations. But we must keep in mind that free markets and the notion of individual liberty are predicated upon the belief that humans are rational and responsible. Once rationality and responsibility no longer factor into a person’s thinking, society must consider intervening, not just for the good of the individual but for the protection of society as a whole. An overriding concern for the welfare of all human beings is the hallmark of a compassionate democracy, not a would-be totalitarian state.

Poll Shocker: Trump Ties With ‘Unnamed Socialist’. John Merline – “But the real news was buried in the poll and went largely overlooked by the press. And it should terrify everyone.

“One could say that this is mainly a reflection of how much hatred there is for Trump, and that a huge portion would pick anyone, even a socialist, rather than him.

There might be some truth to that, given the level of irrational hatred among his detractors.

But in fact it’s actually more evidence of a broader trend plaguing the country.

Various other surveys have found that, independent of Trump, the appeal of socialism has been growing in the country. As we noted in this space, a Gallup poll found that 43% say socialism is “a good thing.” It was 25% in 1942 – which was long before the depredations of socialism were widely known. Among those 18-34 years old, 58% now say it’s a good thing. Even more shocking, 70% of Democrats now describe socialism as a “good thing” — an increase of 13 percentage points from just the year before.

This embrace of socialism comes at the exact same time that Venezuela, the socialist darling of the left just a few years ago, is collapsing back into Third World status. So what can explain the shift?

In our view, this is the payoff of the Left’s decades-long campaign to control the news media, education, entertainment and, increasingly, corporate America.

Caring: opinions on issues vs. emotional voting behavior … neo – “I’ve long noticed that people’s opinions on issues and their voting behavior doesn’t have as much congruence as one might think.”

DOJ Reverses Course in FARA Case – Calls Flynn “co-conspirator”, Doesn’t Want Flynn Testimony – Judge Sullivan Intervenes… sundance – “Breakthrough – Things Making Sense Now…”Down in the muck with the frogs in the swamp, here’s just how slimy the creatures prosecuting have been.

“Yes, Laufman -representing the DOJ- knowingly pressured Flynn to sign a FAR submission while withholding evidence the DOJ would later use to prove the FARA submission contained materially false information. That’s how it looks.

The same David Laufman who sat in on the Clinton email interview. The same David Laufman who was FBI official Monica McLean’s lawyer when things got sketchy about her work with “beach friend” Christine Blasey-Ford…

The Absurd Attack on Alexander Acosta. John Klar – “This tiresome methodology of character attack is a threat to the core of free speech, as victimhood — whether of border children, women, blacks, gays, transgenders, or inquiring people — is transformed into a self-righteous weapon unhindered by policy prescriptions, employed by one political group against another on purely ideological grounds.”

“As Norm Pattis has insightfully observed, “[t]here is no mob quite so terrifying as a self-righteous mob. Suppressing speech because it offends a majority of folks gives the power to censor speech.” But the Acosta-Epstein connection, sought to be saddled upon POTUS Trump, is the mob attacking not free speech, but the Bill of Rights (due process, presumption of innocence, right to an impartial jury, right to effective legal counsel).

Alexander Acosta secured a conviction of a vile predator, despite the fierce attacks of defense attorneys like Hillary Clinton. For that, he is being politically victimized.

A self righteous weapon?

ignorance comes in many flavors

It used to be getting a tongue stuck while licking frozen flagpoles.  These days it’s superglue and landmarks.

Citizenship question more popular than the media would lead you to believe. Jazz Shaw – “Putting the citizenship question on the census is a Republican plot to steal the next election.”

“But that’s not the big issue here, at least as I’m reading the situation. Democrats are almost universal in very publicly opposing the addition of the citizenship question to the census and slamming the President and anyone who agrees with him over it. And yet again, they’re coming up on the wrong side of the issue when it comes to the feelings of the public. Every one of them who goes on record in this fashion is basically just feeding ammunition to the GOP for next year’s elections.

How many of these issues do they need to hang around their own necks before they go underwater? The public is solidly opposed to infanticide and late-term abortion. A clear majority are still opposed to gun bans. While voters do show significant support for some tenuous form of public health plans, they broadly oppose getting rid of private health insurance. Free health care for illegal immigrants is not at all popular.

The Democrats are building their 2020 platform out of a collection of planks that the public is rejecting. Pretty much the only thing they can agree on among themselves is that the Orange Man is Bad and needs to be removed. But in terms of policies, they appear to be driving themselves into a ditch. I find it remarkable that they’re doing as well as they are in recent polling because they’re pushing a lot of ideas that voters simply do not support.

Climate scientists’ pre-traumatic stress syndrome. Judith Curry – “It’s the end of the world as they know it: The distinct burden of being a climate scientist.

“have any of these scientists read the IPCC Reports? I’m not seeing this level of ‘alarm’ anywhere in the IPCC Reports? Where the heck does this ‘end of civilization’ stuff come from?

Having your ego wrapped up in having your research influence policy (frustrated policy advocates), keeping ‘score’ in a personal war against skeptics, seeking fame, generating book sales and lecture fees and political influence, etc. can all come into play in influencing how a scientist reacts to the ‘threats’ of climate change. Scientists might get ‘upset’ if they don’t think they are sufficiently successful at the above. This is something else — not pre-traumatic stress syndrome.

Climate Extremists Offering Lessons to Activists on How to Use Super Glue. Eric Worrall – “An Aussie climate activist group is worried that their supporters can’t read the instructions on tubes of superglue, so they are holding training sessions to ensure activists know how to glue themselves to pavements and miscellaneous landmarks.”

What It Will Take for the Wind and Solar Industries to Collapse. Norman Rogers – “There’s a significant risk that wind and solar will collapse. For how long will the global warming delusion protect them?

“By far the most important subsidy is the renewable portfolio laws. Even if the federal subsidies are reduced, the quota for renewable energy will force price increases to keep the renewable energy industry in business, because it has to stay in business to supply energy to meet the quota.

Wind and solar are not competitive and never will be. They have been pumped up into supposedly solid investments by means of ill advised subsidies and mandates. At some point, the governments will wake up to the waste and foolishness involved. At that point, the value of these investments will collapse. It won’t be the first time that investment experts made bad investments because they don’t really understand what is going on.

Investing time and money when you don’t really understand what is going on?

Pig bath – mostly got away with it

The Left’s War Against America. Jeff Crouere – “as we celebrate this great holiday weekend, Americans need to realize that our institutions, history, traditions and symbols are being attacked on a regular basis by destructive progressive forces in our country.

“Certainly, our country faces problems, but, overall, we are clearly the most prosperous, generous and advanced country on earth. We should be proud of our history and our traditions and what we have accomplished on the world stage in the past 243 years.

No other country can come close to matching our record. If the Democrats and their progressive supporters hate this country so much, they can always leave, no one is stopping them. In fact, that would be one thing that would make our great country even greater.

How Many Divisions Does Chief Justice Roberts Have? Clarice Feldman – “When Obama didn’t like a court order, he ignored it.”

Trump’s Fourth-of-July Crowd Matches His Huge Inauguration Crowd. Knave Dave – “The media was nothing short of spectacularly fake in the news it contrived that week on CNN, the New York Times and the other major fake media, and they mostly got away with it.

The Trump Paradigm Shift … globalintelhub – “Taking into account the fact that the world is not presented in real form (fake news) it becomes even more confusing to the average reader.

“Uber has changed New York City and changed the taxi business forever, for better or worse. Perhaps Uber has changed the idea of what is transportation. And just like Bitcoin, this isn’t about tackling the Establishment it’s about technological change and its impact on society.

Going back to politics, the political establishment failed, just like the Taxi industry failed to innovate. Their last ditch attempt to appease the masses, Obama, was an intelligent attempt but failed short to capture real ‘change’. Obama proved to be no better than all of his white brothers, or in fact worse.

Democrats are like Taxi drivers 10 years ago saying that Uber will never work because they aren’t professionals.

So next time one of the Trump haters starts crying and twitching or in desperate need of counseling, remind them that it’s not about Trump it’s about Paradigm Shift, and that the Political Class failed to deliver any candidate other than corrupt grafters and killers. The political system as setup by the founding fathers is actually working – as it allows for evolution; just like Wall St. is working.

Capitalism is an evolutionary ecosystem by nature, if you have a poor model you fail. Amazon, Google, Microsoft, and others have created wealth and thousands of jobs, and not to mention enable millions of other businesses to achieve productivity with the simple tools they offer. What did the government offer to us lately? More rules, regulating people out of business, raising taxes, sponsoring foreign wars we don’t need, etc. etc.

America Awash in Lies and Disloyalty. Jack Wisdom – “Ignorance is on the march. Attempts at reasoning with the unreasonable are useless.

Dissing the home run. Again

Vilifying Patriotism: Today The Betsy Ross Flag, Tomorrow The 4th of July. I & I Editorial Board – “These mid-summer enjoyments we take for granted are under threat, albeit some only subtly today.”

“But as with this week’s attacks on the flag of 13 stars, when the threats finally emerge from gestation they usually find us off-mark and unprepared to oppose them. The only way to fight them is by simply not backing off on the cherished, traditional practices of patriotism. Because as much as liberty consists of freedom of speech, religion, and assembly, it also means the freedom to celebrate the 4th of July the same way your parents and grandparents did, and not have it replaced at some future date by some absurd “Inclusivity Day” or whatever tomorrow’s politicians come up with.

Trump defies ominous predictions with nonpartisan July 4th salute to American spirit. Lukas Mikelionis – “CBS, ABC, NBC and MSNBC snubbed the celebration and didn’t air it live, save for their online streaming platforms.

“The visuals — flyovers by every branch of the military, a display of tanks and other military hardware, the president rallying Americans before the Lincoln Memorial — drew complaints from critics that Trump was politicizing the holiday while flexing U.S. military might to an uncomfortable degree. The tenor of the address, however, still marked a contrast with the predictions made by 2020 Democratic presidential candidates who said that Trump would focus on his presidency rather than American ideals. Instead, he strictly stuck to history as he cited numerous tales of valor to weave a story of the American spirit.

Media Predictions Of “Tiny Crowd” For Trump July 4 Speech Proven Spectacularly Wrong. Tyler Durden – “In reality, photos from the event show crowds stretching the full length of the national mall.” … “In fact the only only “tiny” crowd was the one that showed up with the Trump baby balloon.

Here are some of the headlines telling you not to believe your lyin’ eyes: Trump tried to make Independence Day all about him. He ended up looking small. (Eugene Robinson/Washington Post). ‘This doesn’t look like the best economy ever’: 40% of Americans say they still struggle to pay bills (Heather Long/Washington Post). Trump’s sad, strange, somewhat Soviet Fourth of July spectacle (Tom Nichols/New York Daily News). Trump’s Cherry-Picked Polls Still Show More than Half The Country Doesn’t Approve (The Daily Beast). Trump’s Fourth of July history speech: Turns out there weren’t airports back then (Gillian Brockell/Washington Post). Why You Shouldn’t Count on the U.S. to Make Self-Driving Cars Safe for Pedestrians (Henry Grabar). Vice on Fourth of July: ‘America Is a Constant Disappointment’ (Joel B. Pollak). Hollywood’s ‘Salute to America’ Meltdown: ‘Apologies to the Rest of the World’ (Jerome Hudson). CNN’s Mudd on Trump ‘Salute to America’ Speech: At a Professional Level I Hated It — At a Personal Level I Hated It MoreApril Ryan: Trump ‘Schoolhouse Rock’ July 4 Speech Was President ‘Trying to Recreate His History’ (Jeff Poor).

Ted Cruz sacks Colin Kaepernick, grabs ball, and scores (on Twitter). Thomas Lifson– “Flaunting the blinders that progressives wear when they consider our collective history, he took a quotation out of context in order to try to score an own goal against the country that birthed him, made him a multi-millionaire, and now indulges him in his extended adolescence.”

Border Patrol Disproves AOC’s ‘Toilet Water’ Claim With Video Tour Of Migrant Detention Center. Tyler Durden – “After a visit to the border, AOC mocked border patrol members by tweeting that they “sexually threatened her” – referring to a private Facebook group where members made disparaging jokes about her (again, in private) – and insisted that the conditions in migrant detention facilities were as bad as WWII-era concentration camps.

The importance of stupidity in scientific research. Martin A. Schwartz – “One of the beautiful things about science is that it allows us to bumble along, getting it wrong time after time, and feel perfectly fine as long as we learn something each time.”

“I think scientific education might do more to ease what is a very big transition: from learning what other people once discovered to making your own discoveries. The more comfortable we become with being stupid, the deeper we will wade into the unknown and the more likely we are to make big discoveries.”

Stupid and ignorant is OK but only if it is a motivator to learn.

A radical idea

Nailed It – Navarro Discusses U.S-China Trade Re-engagement: “Seven Prior Chapters Now Starting Point”… sundance – “Writing a trade agreement between a free-market (USA) and a controlled-market (China) is where the challenge lies. One of the inherent issues will always be how the free-market system can hold the controlled-market system accountable if they cheat.”

MSNBC Guest Proclaims Betsy Ross Flag Equivalent to Swastika’s and Burning Crosses… sundance – “Cultural Marxism is advanced through a process of incremental control over customs and traditions within a free society.” … “The U.S. confederate flag was targeted successfully. Now the same Marxists shift attention toward the U.S. Betsy Ross flag. Eventually the target will be the current U.S. flag.”

CBS, ABC, NBC and CNN Join MSNBC… Will Not Air President Trump’s July 4th Celebration. Jim Hoft – “They hate Trump more than they love their country.”

‘Mini AOC’ Doxxed And Threatened, Family Shuts Down All Her Social Accounts. Rachel Stoltzfoos – “The family of a young girl who went viral for mocking Democratic New York Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shut down all of her social accounts Wednesday, after receiving death threats and harassing phone calls.”

Left Amps Up Justifications For Violence Against Their Political Opponents. Ellie Bufkin – “The left’s new extremism condones assaulting conservatives in public. Antifa’s attack on a journalist is yet another example that our norms have changed.”

This Fourth of July, why patriotism is worth defending. Kyle Smith – “For the haters, it’s open season on the American ideal.”

“But to think of slavery first when you think of American history is like thinking of Charles Manson first when you think of men. America accomplished a few good things as well. America is a radical idea that had never come close to being implemented before — a broad-based democracy with government engineered for the purpose of zealously protecting our natural, or God-given, rights. We zoomed out ahead of the rest of the world, and we never looked back. As late as 1870, only 40% of the men in Britain were entitled to vote. Voting in America was not universal until women got the vote in 1920, but the US was miles ahead of everybody else in allowing its people to be heard.

America didn’t complete the project of freedom on that broiling day in Philly, but that’s like saying your kid’s first day of school is no big deal because your kids can’t do algebra yet. On July 4, 1776, we began setting up the greatest opportunity for human flourishing the world has ever known, and our example continues to be the world’s beacon. The United States of America isn’t perfect. We’re merely the best.

“America is a radical idea that had never come close to being implemented before.”

The President’s home runs and what the media doesn’t tell you

Translated North Korean Broadcast Even More Optimistic and Respectful Than Initial Review… sundance – “What an incredible shift in the dynamic.”

“Traditional propaganda messaging would convey great power and respect for Dear Leader Kim Jong-Un and a message of moderate diminishment toward the U.S. President. This type of propaganda narrative is also what the U.S. Main Street Media had stated Kim Jong-un would use. But they’re wrong… all of them.

The actual message conveyed to the citizens of North Korea is one of united celebration and magnanimous respect for Chairman Kim and President Trump. The broadcast specifically cites “wisdom”, “respect” and praise for the “incredible courage” of President Donald J Trump. Exactly the opposite message predicted by the DC naysayers.

Stunning North Korean propaganda film shows Trump’s critics are wrong. Thomas Lifson – “The Fanatic Trump-haters in the media are once again proven wrong, as the North Korean media are stoking public expectations of a deal that will improve their lives.”

Obnoxious tanks? What does MSNBC think ‘rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air’ means? Tom Tillison – “The resistance to President Donald Trump has become so toxic that nothing is off-limits when it comes to finding reasons to denigrate the president, not even the 4th of July.

President Trump hits huge home run nominating Judy Shelton for the Fed. Monica Showalter – “Start with her achievements … So naturally, she’s already being subject to all kinds of criticism from the conventional-wisdomers and swamp aficionados — same people who told her she was nuts for forecasting the Soviet meltdown.

“Shelton is not a gold standard absolutist; she’s a people-standard absolutist. Monetary policy matters only insofar as it helps people, the deplorables, the little guy out there. That’s what makes her tick. And that, actually, jibes well with what President Trump stands for, too.

We absolutely need a genius of this caliber and character on the Federal Reserve Board now.

Ocasio-Cortez’s attacks on Border Patrol are outrageous and based on lies. Brandon Judd – “I am disgusted by Ocasio-Cortez’s lies and her determination to needlessly and dangerously inflame public sentiment regarding the crisis on our southern border by abandoning facts and making wild and unsupported accusations.

Record High Temperatures in France: 3 Facts the Media Don’t Tell You. Roy W. Spencer – “News reporting of the recent heat wave in France and other European countries was accompanied with the usual blame on humans for causing the event.

seriously out of control

The American left is seriously out of control. Now they are dangerous. Patricia McCarthy – “The Left’s hysteria over Trump’s victory in 2016 has escalated into something quite beyond mere hysteria.”

“Antifa, the fascist organization that protests anything and everything with which it disagrees is violent, very violent. They show up with weapons, wearing masks and attack anyone they perceive to be in opposition to their own warped ideology.

CNN has long defended the group as good guys, social justice warriors. That is how off the rails CNN is. Like Antifa, CNN is officially and openly anti-American.

Portland may be ground zero for the worst of leftist brutality at the moment but the Left is definitely ramping up its malicious intolerance. As everyone who cares to look knows, there have been many incidents of violence against Trump supporters around the country, often for just wearing a red hat.

The Left, aside from approving of all manner of violence in service of their agenda and their anger, has been willing to break every law on the books, abrogate every word of the Constitution to get their way or defend those who do these terrible things.

The left has shown its true its colors. We are one election away from losing our country … and they cheat.

Milkshake protest stirs up controversy across U.S. Zane Sparling – “Ted Wheeler’s adviser offers support to Andy Ngo, but says no ‘physical evidence’ of quick-drying cement.” Denial runs deep but pictures and other evidence tell their own story.

More on Portland’s Mayor’s epically bad explanation of Antifa attacks. Jazz Shaw – “Where were the police? Why wasn’t there more of a law enforcement presence on the scene? And perhaps most of all, where was the Mayor? He’d been awfully silent, considering what a disaster he had on his hands

The “Magic Wand Of Fudging” Produces Global Warming. John Hinderaker – “I have written many times about what I consider the worst scandal in the history of science: efforts by the curators of global temperature records to rewrite the past so as to produce an illusion of warming that is not reflected in the temperatures that have actually been recorded.” Here’s another example.

the Gruber Principle

The Media Intentionally Mislead Americans on Trump’s Huawei Position… sundance – “The U.S. media are desperate to find something to criticize and openly cheering for failure, so long as it provides fuel for their anti-Trump narrative.”

“With President Donald Trump making massive strides toward peace and stability surrounding North Korea, the media cannot accept -nor allow- the common sense solutions to succeed. President Trump is clearly perceived as a risk because his success highlights just how useless and manipulative a professional political class of consultants, advisors and DC think-tanks really are.

DC journalism has evolved into reveling about the never ending process and, as a consequence, media completely ignore the end point, miss the bottom line, don’t actually SEE the subject matter, and never actually attempt to discover solutions.

As part of their unspoken strategy when they encounter a solution driven approach, the media (writ large) fall back on the Gruber Principle: relying on “the stupidity of the American voter” not to understand how the lies and talking points are being distributed.

Writing a trade agreement between a free-market (USA) and a controlled-market (China) is where the challenge lies. One of the inherent issues will always be how the free-market system can hold the controlled-market system accountable if they cheat.

See Maine, Medicaid, and the Gruber Principle by David Catron, 13 Nov 2017 for an example of the Gruber Principle. “The Democrats rely heavily on “the stupidity of the American voter,” as Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber famously phrased it.

Sunday Talks: American Pravda Discuss North Korea… sundance – “Everything about this interview, including the narrative surrounding Kim Jong-Un, is pure CIA horsepucky…. all of it.” … “All of the opposition to Donald Trump is one long continuum of self-interest and risk management.

Left-wing thuggery: The battle lines are being drawn in Portland, OR. Thomas Lifson – “When local officials appear to wink and nod as masked leftist thugs openly assemble and attack conservatives, it’s time for the feds to come in and protect civil rights.”

“Antifa is part of an interstate conspiracy to deny civil rights to conservatives. Thanks to the civil rights movement, there are established procedures for dealing with such malign groups. It’s time to start using those tools.

By Any Means Necessary: It Won’t Stop with Andy Ngo. Richard Fernandez – “the combativeness of the last few days alarmed those accustomed to regarding themselves as civilized. Nicholas Kristof tried to explain the savagery by explaining that the natural virtue of liberals had been infected by conservative hate and that consequently, some were succumbing to their baser instincts.

“There was little consideration given to the possibility that liberalism — and Republican conservatism — had lost its soul long before Trump; that somewhere in the decades of media lies, PR myth-making, money printing, cynical foreign policy, abortion and political flirtation with foreign tyrants the establishment had done a deal with the devil quite without the assistance of the Donald.

It’s not surprising that the French Terror began with the purge of the moderates and the urgency of virtue.

Where the Democrats are Trying to Take Us. Steve McCann – “The primary threat to this nation is not Donald Trump nor his supporters but an evolving autocratic oligarchy made up of the hierarchy of American Left, which includes elements of the political class, the mainstream media, the education establishment and, most recently, the titans of Silicon Valley.

“They are doing so by promoting a so-called benevolent and just central government (i.e. socialism) dominated in perpetuity by the “enlightened” while promoting their brand of socialism and obliterating any opposition. Additionally, their evolving position on abortion and euthanasia reflects the mindset that deems virtually all human beings as mere pawns of the state.

Elitist Vehicles: You Subsidize Them, But You Can’t Afford Them. Eric Peters – “And that’s not the worst of it.”

“The average person can’t afford this — in money or time. But he is forced to subsidize this, which is an interesting thing given the hardest pushers of EVs are affluent liberals— who used to be people who feigned concern about the economic troubles of the average person.

And no one seems to be angry about this.

Elitist Vehicles — the electric ones — are morally despicable.

California judge blocks even more border wall construction. Jazz Shaw – “Keep in mind that only a few weeks ago, a different federal judge rejected a separate suit brought by House Democrats attempting to the exact same thing and for the same stated reasons. In doing so, he cited the exact same sections of federal code I linked to in the previous paragraph. Since at least two courts are making opposite calls on the same question, it needs to be booted up the chain, and the quicker the better.
