The Sierra Nevada Unit looks to the founding principles of it's parent organization, the Wally Byam Caravan Club, International to provide the foundation of the Unit. These principles guide the SNU in it's activities and it's management.

We celebrated our 30th Anniversary with a special luncheon in February. The highlight was a diorama of an SNU rally created by SNU members. This diorama was also displayed at the WBCCI International Rally in Salem OR
We created a 30th Anniversary commemorative booklet highlighting the history of the SNU.
new members joined the Unit in 2006
Six out of the eight rallies held in 2005 included people who were attending their first SNU rally.
We held rallies in four new locations.
The SNU logo was redrawn by a member to provide us with a clean first copy for reproduction and use on SNU materials.
Four members of the SNU attended the WBCCI International Rally in Salem Oregon. This included and officially elected delegate who voted for the Unit at the delegates meeting. Members also participated in the WBCCI band and carried the flag in the opening ceremony.
Increased member participation in Unit activities and management.
We continued development of the website with new additions such as http://SierraNevadaAirstreams.org/
We posted all SNU newsletters from 1994 to the present on the website.
The SNU has increased it's use of current technologies to encourage participation from all members. We have initiated systems to pay dues and rally fees on-line, we utilized and on-line voting system to gain input in the development of the rally schedule and we utilized on-line voting for various policy issues such as the proposed WBCCI name change.
Continue our effort at being a good neighbor. SNU members continue seeking out other Airstream owners, telling them about the SNU and asking about their Airstream experiences. Guests and visitors are always welcome at our rallies and meetings.
We hope that we can convince others to join us and help us enjoy our Airstream experience. We can all have more fun together in our local unit, I think. Perhaps some of these efforts might catch on and help the WBCCI gain vitality and energy. Who knows? Join the revolution. It all starts at the bottom between you and your local unit. Make it work for you.
“It's the Airstreams that bring us together but it's the people who keep us together” - Jerry Thornburg (2797) describing the SNU
"The WBCCI is an exclusive club because not everyone owns an Airstream! The idea is to get out and have fun with your RV - with friends who share common interests." - Bryan R. Leipper (772)
“The formula that the leadership in our unit uses comes straight from Wally and his creed which they have adopted as the primary focus of the group. It also comes by their determination to be inclusive with respect to the members, open to new ideas and by providing opportunities for everyone to participate in the way that best suits them.” - Former SNU member
