Happy hours will likely occur on Friday and Saturday starting about 5 p.m. The unit meeting will be held Saturday at about 1 p.m. following the pot luck lunch. All gatherings will be informal and BYO (bring your own) to share as suits your karma. If you want to coordinate and plan, then form your own conspiracy with whomever is handy! Bring firewood for a campfire

Special Event: In coordination with Rick Laborde, SNU members will be doing some clean up and other work in the Obsidian area as a service project for the National Forest Service.

Weather: moderate, can be cool at night.

Facilities: no facilities, dry camping, lots of trees

Nearby attractions: small stream near camping area. Lots of geological features – craters, obsidian deposits and both easy and more strenuous hiking trails. Near June Lakes with fishing, swimming beach, and canoeing. Also nearby is Mono Lake and the Mono Basin Visitors Center near Lee Vining, Mono Craters, Black Point Fissures, and Panium Crater.
